Very cool to watch.  Too bad it means I won't have power much longer.

Not necessarily. You could get lucky.

And they are cool from a distance. They fucking suck when they go a half block away. It's like the mothership from Close Encounters parked on your roof.

The sky had a very strange color tonight, dark red, like blood -not normal sunset colors.

We had green and orange flashes last night. One green glow lasted about 30-45 seconds. Luckily, I had some tin-foil packed in my Bug-In bag. Power cut off at midnight, came back on at 11 am. Rita killed my AC though. the fan in the condenser fell off in the high winds and i assume it busted the coild. I reattached the fan to the shaft but the Ac won't cool now.

Damn round here a green sky is usually bad, usually it happens right about the time a twista drops out of the sky

A few years back during a snow storm it was pretty neat watching the green, orange and yellow glow and flashes reflect off of the snow while sitting in the rescue truck.

It's the same in western Ohio.  I saw the green glow as Xenia, Ohio was badly hit by a tornado.  I was about  10 mies away at the time.

The pole pig next door went , thank you but NO THANK YOU, I don't need that happening again.  Luckily I didn't have anything valuable up and running but  the dogs and kids went diddley.
