SnugTops are the best, but they aren't cheap. IMO, they are worth the extra money, though. They are also the Toyota OEM cap manufacturer.

I have a Raven which isn't as nice as the SnugTop but it's pretty good. (I 4-wheel and camp with my rig, throw my kayak in, carry material and that kind of thing so I didn't want TOO nice).
If you can find someone who imports the ARB tops they are the best. They have supports so you can carry the vehicles payload capacity on the rood of the cap. link |

I had a Leer cap for my old 92 4x4 Toy. I got the style that made it look like a 4Runner. You definatly need one if you want to secure items in the back. I have a 04 Taco xcab now but have no plans on getting a cap.

I've got a son at the Air Force Academy. He won't be able to have a POV for two years, but the plan is to pass the Tacoma down to him. I want to get it outfitted for camping and hunting. I want a cap that looks decent, but isn't too expense. Then I plan to build a false floor about 8-10 inches deep with a big slide out drawer, big enough to hold long guns. Should make a nice rig.

'03 Taco TRD here...I've got a Leer, I like it fine. Excellent paint match. Snug-top is good too.

I bought a lakeland just because they're made locally.
www.lakelandtruckcaps.com/truckcaps.html It looks good, matches my paint exactly (they get factory paint to do it) and doesn't leak. |
