Looking at those side by side is very interesting. Not much metal left after opening the face up to accept the 762X39 rim.  I wonder how often this does happen.

Did you turn the inside of a .223 bolt to fit a 7.62x39 and use it in a 762x39 upper? If you did its a wonder that it lasted that long. The chamber of the 7.62 is also larger in diameter and would have backed up the bolt. That is why they have different sized bolts to fit the proper chamber. I wouldn't worry about the larger cals because the parts should be matched. The bolt for the 7.62 should look something like the one in a AR10 in size.
Be careful when you try to modify things to use

Someone on this board (?) did a Finite Stress Analyis on these bolts.  The "missing" lug where the extractor sits places a huge stress on the lugs adjacent to the extractor.

A way to reduce this peak stress is to equalize the load on the lugs - GRIND OFF the lug opposite the extractor.
