I hope this ain't a dupe.

This was found between Orlando and Titusville , near a house.  How would you like to meet this fella in the dark?  Never let it be said that we don't grow them big in Florida .

Game wardens were forced to shoot alligator  <guess he wouldn't cooperate>
Published  June 16, 2005

Titusville  - Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night.

Her neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a giant alligator in the waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations.

"I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said.
Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated.  Florida  Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast. Joe Goff, a game warden with the  Florida Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 13-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in their back yard.

Doesn't anyone else wonder what they shot it with?  Or has ARFCOM become a haven of airsofters?

The growth rate doesn't level off?

I would have figured a lot older than 13; maybe I had snapping turtle on the brain.

Most animals grow as a function of the the food supply and the size of the environment.  Have ever wondered why goldfish dont grow to huge sizes in bowls?  You give enough food and room to a gator and he will fill it.

This crocodile was found in New Orleans swimming down the street. 21 FT long, 4,500 lbs, around 80 years old minimum.  Specialists said that he was looking to eat humans because he was too old to catch animals. This crocodile was killed by the army last Sunday at 3:00 pm, currently he is in the freezer at the Azur hotel. The contents of its stomach will be analyzed this Friday at! 2:30pm.

I wondered about that as well. That head should be at least 35% smaller to look proportional.

Ya hook them with 120lb test line and a big trebble hook, fight the beast till he's tired and along the side of the boat, then pop him with a .44 mag bangstick right behind the eyes.

Looks like some camera trickery going on there. The photographer was standing very close to the gator when the picture was taken and used a small aperature to keep the gator and the background in focus. Using perspective it makes the gator look a lot bigger than it probably actually is.

That's a typical trick a lot of big game hunters use when photographing themselves with their kills.
