First gun fired was a Marlin .22LR when I was about 7 or 8. The first gun I bought was a Browning BPS 12 gauge at 12years old. My parents bought it for me (I wasnt quite old enough to do it by my self), using the money I earned for mowing lawns and various other odd jobs.

My grandfather took me out to a friend's farm, placed a glass bottle on a dirt hill & racked a round into a nickle plated/pearl gripped .25ACP.  I fired at about 5 yards, the bottle shattered & the casing failed to extract.

I was 5 or 6 years old.  Thank You HKWIII!

Remington 572BDL .22LR pump gun.  Iron sights (had a scope on it later for awhile), beautiful wood, DAMN accurate once I learned to shoot.  Still have it, it is still accurate, but it is a safe queen now.  That and a Browning BL-22 are in reserve incase I ever have a son.

shooter

p.s.  Now I want to take them out to the range and have a nostalgia day.

7 years old. My uncle took me out behind the house and let me shoot a Ruger MK 2, it was his brothers, at a landscaping stick about 15ft away. Out of one 10rnd mag I hit the stick twice, then my uncle took a few shots missing the stick, all the while mumbling under his breath that the damned sights were off on this gun. So he proceeds to go inside and get his S&W .357 and blow the stick in half. I have been hooked ever since

I must have been around 8 or so when dad let me shot his Remington 870 Wingmaster, 12 guage of course , for the first time. This was back when 30" barrels were regular features. It was all I could do to hold that long, heavy thing out there.

A couple, three years later we found a Remington Model 12 pump action .22 in the wall of our house as we were adding insulation. It's in rough shape, and was missing the buttstock. But we bought a box of shells and took it to the dump. Put on heavy leather work gloves and shot it to see if it would work. It did. So we took it to the local gunsmith to have a stock put on it. It's not even close to the original, but it works. I still this gun.

The first gun that was mine was an FIE single shot 12 ga. shotgun, so we could hunt pheasants. Dad bought it, must have been 1972-ish. I would have been 12 or so. I still have this gun.

The first gun that was all mine was the first one I purchased myself. Bought a Ruger 10/22 in May/June 1978, right after graduation. I've shot the piss out of this gun. So much so that after all these years and many guns later this one still feels like a part of me when I shoulder it. I still have this gun. Are you noticing a pattern here?

That pattern gets broken when I sell the second gun I bought. A 1979 vintage Colt SP1.

And any abuse you want to heap on me is well deserved.

13 years old, some version of an M-60 firing blanks at a US Army Ranger open house on Eglin AFB, Fl.  Man that was so awesome, they gave me a belt of about 30 rounds and it went quick, at first I fired like 2 short bursts and the ranger goes, "cmon shoot it" so I just held the trigger.  It was awesome.  That and watching the hand to hand combat demo.  And watching some sniper pop up in front of our bleachers after he had been there for like 15 minutes and we didnt know.

Dont know if that counts as actually firing since no bullets came out of the barrel.

I can't remember the first gun I fired, but the first gun I ever held I remember like yesterday. It was Christmas and my older cousin handed me a Colt Single Action Army. I was six at the time. I remember not being able to cock it. There was a Winchester 1886 in 45-90 that belonged to my uncle that I would go look at when ever I was at his house. I could hardly lift it then. I wish I had those guns now.
My first personally owned gun was a Stevens 410 shotgun I got when I was 10. I didn't like it much and my gun trading days began when I was 11 and I sold it and bought a Winchester 62 pump 22 rifle I still have. All through my childhood I had a strong interest in guns and was always trying to get them, shoot them, whatever. The older cousin was the only other "gunny" family member so I was exposed to a lot of guns through him.
I have taught my kids and other kids gun safety and taken any kid who wants to go shooting to the range. So far I have only found one kid who really has the fire for guns like I did.

Actually, as I think about it, there was one other gun I fired before the Winchester .22.  It was a  Browning .30 Caliber Air Cooled Machine Gun - age 9. www.rt66.com/~korteng/SmallArms/30cal.htm They had one loaded up for the public to fire at a local air show. I got to pop off about 15 rounds. It went quick.

Top that one, suckahs!

Same here, except my family wasn't anti-gun, they just didn't see why I needed one, or what I'd do with it in our city. I was able to convince my parents I was mature enough to own one, and I saved up and got a .22LR Remington 597 on my 14th birthday.

My Rem 597 KB'ed on me using Remington Vipers that next year, so I later later replaced it with a Ruger 10/22, which I still have.

10/22 over two decades ago.  It was my dads and he still has it, un-touched/modified.  Looks like new even though its like thirty years old.  His theory was that I learn with his 10/22, then he buys me a 10/22 for myself, my kids learn on my 10/22, then I have to buy them their own.  Kinda good so you never loose your rifle to your kids.  Well now my daughter has her own 10/22 but I had to put a youth stock on it from Brownells.  My 10/22 is slightly modded out but all the original parts/stocks are in the closet in case I want it original again.  Long story.

First gun I ever owned or fired:

My Grandfather's Type 99 Jap in 7.7MM.

Hell of a gun, firing pin was broken, and took a while to find a new one.

Bought my $40 for 20 rounds of ammo.

My brother and I had a blast shooting it.  Gun Stores kept telling me what a POS I had.  Told them to suck it and I'll be keeping it.

Not long after I turned 21 I got my SAR1.

Then I got my First ARMALITE.  Then My Second was a PWA.  Then A J&T.  Then another ARMALITE.  Then another ARMALITE.  ARMALITES are teh r0xx0rz.
