Why is it; when I perform some act of amazing skill, intelligence or courage, there's never anyone around?

Whether it's bass fishing or a fantastic rifle shot, I'm very alone. If I have a real bad episode of incompetence or lapse of skill, the entire population of the lake or gun club membership is carefully watching me.

So I'm in my canoe with my fly rod and a boat parade stops by to ask if I'm catching anything. Then I bag a six pounder and I sit there with my thumb in it's mouth till my hand gets pruny and it's half dead before I release it. No boats.

Shooting, same thing. Alone I'm a regular Quigley, when there are witnesses I'm Barney Fife.

Regards,
Mild Bill

Downer for you. I guess it is kind of like my never being able to take my cars to the track to get some time slips. I know that they are very fast, but dont have the tape to back it up.
