I have had no less than three phone calls today from friends (women) that are in full blown panic mode concerning Rita. They are on the verge of tears and are unsure of what to do, where to go, and how to get there. The Katrina coverage and the onslaught of terror that the local media is whipping up is driving some folks insane.

After looking at the debacle in the superdome, wouldn't you be worrying, seriously tell those friggin wimmens to pay attention to the news and stop watching the Lifetime channel, start now, you can be sure if Rita was Cat2 or above I would be far from here....

Tell them to turn off the TV and just check web updates without the hype. I quit watching the news years ago.
BTW are any of them liberals? Al the libs in my family freak out when they watch the news. They are easy to manipulate. |

it's not, it's only a few feet above. can't remember the exact number. it floods pretty bad, even in rough thunderstorms. The last major flood was from a 2 day tropical storm in 2001. I set in front of my apartments/dorms that were luckily elevated, the highway was in front of us, the security guard and I watched cars float by on the freeway. Scariest shit I've witnessed. and that was a friggin tropical storm. yeah, with the "diversity" of houston, expect even worse than NO if law and order breaks down. |

It's a damn shame that so many otherwise intelligent people have been turned into government-dependent jelly. It's a damn shame that so many people are so hooked on "terrify you into bigger ratings" news crap.
Between the two, people just can't seem to function anymore. Their reactions (as evidenced by the 3 female acquaintances of the poster) range between 2 extremes. Passive oblivion and utter panic. Something has to happen to wake people up. It's gonna be ugly when it does. Oh yeah, +1 on the foursome. Good luck talking the wife into it!
