Response (Marimel M.) - 09/13/2005 07:57 PM
Dear KA3B:

We received your e-mail.  Thank you for writing FedEx.

FedEx tracking information is updated to reflect each new scan of your
package.  Update times vary depending on the destination and location
of each package.   All scans are local time.  You can receive up-to-date
information from the Web site if you track your shipment periodically.
There is typically a slight time lag from when the package enters the
FedEx tracking  system, to when it is transmitted to the Internet
tracking system.

It is possible for a shipment not to have scans for a couple of days if
they are in the back of a trailer and in transit, especially for long
travel to reach the destination terminal.

According to our records, your shipment is currently in transit and the
estimated delivery date is September 16, 2005.

We hope this information is helpful.  Thank you for shipping FedEx.

I got a good one. Ordered some computer parts on Thursday the 15th of this month. Shipped it 2nd day air. Record shows it going out the 16th, it gets to my local hub on Monday, and was showing as on the truck for delivery. I go to pick it up at my mail/packages receiving business, and it isn't there. I get home and it now shows as "package not ready for delivery".

From their tracking info page, it looks to me like it was actually on the truck for delivery, and some schmoe notices that even though it's there "early" and could be delivered, they take it back to the hub and will bring it back on "it's proper delivery date". WTF?!

Guess they don't want to be "too fast", do they?

So what exactly is the problem?  On the 13th you asked were your package was and on the 13th they replied to you that it is scheduled for the 16th.  Are you saying you still haven't received your package?

I think the issue may be the fact that his package sat in Brooklyn for three days, just taking up space, instead of being on its way to him.

That, and why the hell did it take 5 days to get from Keasbey, N.J., to Portland, OR.?  Is FedEx using the Wright Flyer to save on fuel costs?

Shippers seem to suck ass...it's by nature.

My cell phone last year was subject to recall, it's battery was f'ed up.  UPS sends a note to my mailbox(I live in an apt. complex) saying they tried to deliver it(I live in an apt. complex) and it was at the depot.

But they didn't deliver it, despite me being home that particular week.

So I get to the depot and it was there, but it was aggravating.  They don't TRY to deliver anything shipped to my house.  USPS, FedEx, UPS, doesn't matter.

Rant off.

How many days did you pay to have it delivered by? (your post doesn't say).  If they failed to deliver it in time then you can ask for (and usually receive) a partial refund of Fedex charges.  A package can sit somewhere for days as long as they get it to you in the contracted time.

WTF? why did they ship it from KEASBEY, NJ  to BROOKLYN, NY on the 13th, and then back to Keasbey, NJ on the 14th?

It's pretty simple actually.  The package was put on the wrong truck by mistake on the 10th (a Saturday).  It was scanned arrived in Brooklyn on the 10th(which is what they're supposed to do when a lost package is found, so the computer regains visibility of the shipment).

The driver usually drops off the inbound trailers, picks up the outbound trailers and leaves. So once the package was found in the wrong truck, it would have to wait at least until the next night to be on it's way back, because the trailers going there already left.

The next night is Sunday(11th).  I'm betting they don't work a Sunday PM shift. Since there's no outbound pick-ups made on Sunday, there's no work for them to do.

The earliest it could have left would have been Monday(12th) PM on the first truck.  They screwed up and somehow took another day to move the package.  There really isn't a good excuse for why it took the extra day.

The computer system should prevent items being scanned on the wrong truck.  In fact the computer probably thought the package was on the right truck until the arrival scan at Brooklyn.  As for why it was in the worng truck, it's someone not doing their job correctly.  They put the package on the wrong truck.
