sure it flies fast but gets really shitty gas mileage.
i would worry more about a 1985 ford F-150 panel van with a dirty bomb inside.

If it's a two seater, wouldn't that make it an F-16B, rather than an A?

ETA...nevermind, just took a look at the pic and it's not the actual pic of the jet for sale. The one they are showing looks like a D or Weasel model, because it has AGM-45 Shrikes and AIM-120 AMRAAMS's on the hardpoints.

Notice they are selling a Mig 21 for only $225,000....hmm twin engine Piper or Mig 21???

You think an intelligent, informed purchaser would actually rely on eBay's "protection" for the amount of money involved?

And who in their right mind would bid on an aircraft they haven't had inspected by an A&P with specific F-16 qualifications?

Note the other items they have for sale. Helicopter parts, antenna towers, transmission lines, etc.

Actually, if it is one that was NOT built in the US, AND exported, then it technically CAN be imported subject to a series of stringent requirements, which in simple terms consist of the de-weaponizing of the aircraft. It would have to be incapable of firing a shot.

I've studied this matter out of curiousity. As long as it's not a US-made F-16, it COULD be legally imported.

There was an article in an airplane magazine last year about one or two guys in the US that have Unlimited Letters of Authorization from the FAA. They do flight testing and airworthiness certifications mostly for restored warbirds. Basically, they have a license that says, "If this guy wants to fly it, it's OK with us!" Talk about your dream jobs! Of course, the article went into great detail about the long inspections and preparations these guys go through to get the planes to fly, but it really speaks volumes about their qualities as pilots. One guy was type-certified in something like 1,200 different aircraft!

The picture that they show is that of a "D" model...not an "A" model. Looks to be a block 40 as well...don't quote me on that though. You would think that someone selling a F-16 would have pictures of the actual plane on there...

Why would anybody NEED a plane like that? It was designed for military use, not for civilians. They should be banned.

They sell dumbed-down versions for civilians. They're called Cessnas and Pipers.

Make sure you get the speed waiver, too. Going above 250 kias below 10,000' is easier than you think! Hehe, I've done it on more than one occasion.

That sounds about right. I've seen them for $120,000. Got knows what they cost to keep maintained, and MiG-21's are very short ranged, and dont handle very well at subsonic speeds. Not a lot of utility for a civilian or typical aviation enthusiast.

The owner of Dillion Reloading has a 1950's era jet fighter. There was a show on tv awhile back saying that Dillion was going to make a video of the jet making strafing runs on ground targets.

The .gov told him it was legal, because the .50 cals were registered and he was flying over his own land. (he has several sq. miles) Never have seen the video for sale.

As for a group buy, there should be enough talented people on the board to keep the beast flying.

It was mouth-watering to see those blazing . And he hosts a shoot inthe desert - where all those square miles of his are- at night to treat his friends to some real fun.

Should have seen the host- Jim Scouten. Full grin that wouldn't go away!

You are right it was American Shooter, back when it was TNN not SpikeTV. They had a Bell chopper that they used to carry people and gear out to the property. Yeah I would say the reloading biz must be a break even propisition for Dillon..

Is this an Evil Semiauto Assault Plane???....with a Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 of 23,830 lbs thrust with afterburner, it pretty much fits the age old "More Thrust per squeeze" phrase!!

It's actually the F100-PW-220. Gives you the extra "umph"

Well, that's what I'd want on it. Unless they could somehow squeeze a -229 into it.

That would be just about a full tank of gas, around 1000 gallons, Jet A is around three bucks a gallon.

I don't know if the reloading biz is what pays for Dillon's toys. He also owns Dillon Aero, maker of mini-guns, etc. Gov't contractor, which also might explain how he came to have all the full auto toys.
