In both cases, the options would include a full size sofa and a love seat; plus an accent chair.  BTW, I think number one is actually more comfortable, she thinks the same of number two.

My option would be around $3,000, hers would be around $1,000 because we have a recliner that would work as the accent (plus they are less expensive).

Poll inbound.

Also, this is the dining room table and chairs we have already purchased for the adjoining dining room.  It really is one big open space.

Go with her option and that leaves more extra money for ammo and new toys !!

someone i know has couches that look like the second ones.  they are the most comfortable couches ever.  also, if they are $2000 cheaper, get the second ones and convince the wife you need to spend the rest on another AR, accessories, ammo, etc...

2nd, they are more comfortable, I have a set very similar to that.

Regarding option #1, the first time you sit down on couch #1 with a sharp object in your pocket......

Find a set you argee on.  There are aged looking leathers out there now too.

Something that looks like her choice, but is still leather.

I prefer leather.  The wife and I agreed though so it wasn't an issue.

The first one would be very uncomfortable if you wanted to lay down in it. The arms are straight up. You would have to use a huge pillow or you would break your neck. The second one is just to puffy for my taste. Those kind dont hold up as well either.

I would suggest looking for one like the first one with different arms. I do love leather furniture though. There is nothing like it. Hope you dont have pets.

You have a far broader range of decor options with #2 than the Euro Scandinavian look of #1. You may not have the same decor taste in 18 months & you would get far more mileage out of #2.

We had a couch that was rated by all our friends as the best couch they had ever seen in any house. The simple criteria was that every one of them had fallen asleep on it at one time or another.

Lay down and try to take a nap on each. You will have your decision shortly.

Set #2, makes the Mrs happy, plus is less expensive... I usually like the modern look, but  #2 looks better with the other furniture.  Plus the extra $2k can go for some other nice stuff.

BTW, are we getting a new dinner pic with the new furniture??

Couch #1 appears to match the seat cushions on the dinning room set you have.
Couch #2 appears to be so much more inviting and comfortable.

I voted for #2.  You don't want everything the same color and you want comfort.

$3000 seems very steep to me.  #2 looks more comfortable too.  I'd take #2 and $2000 cash in my pocket over #1.

<Chauvinistic Chivalrous thought of the day>

You watch alot of TLC don't you?

Let's examine how it would have worked in the 50's.  Even though I am in my early thirties, this is how my house is run.  If you are a prick, then ignore what is below since it won't work for you.

As the man of the house, your comfort, along with which sofa you feel is "prettier" or whatever, is of secondary importance.  This is a major purchase, and as such you are the decision maker.

Your job is to evaluate things like the quality of the sofa, the warranty, and additional things like stain resistance.  You should also look at the effect upon your financial situation.  Keeping the wife happy is a major consideration too, and as a man you will happily forego comfort in order that she be comfortable (unless her sofa is a POS, in which case you will veto it).

Look at the factors stated above, and let your wife know your decision.  As I said, if you are a selfish prick then this style of household management will not work for you.  Your wife must trust that you will do your due diligence in evaluating the non-comfort factors listed above, and come to a fair conclusion no matter your personal comfort.

You pick the guns, she picks the furniture.  That's only fair.

Then you can say, "But Honey, I bought the couch you wanted."

This is her area of expertise, let her run with it.

#1 No questions about it. Personally I'm into mid-century furniture, you know late 50's early 60's styles which that couch reminds me of, I'm doing my whole house with vintage late 50's early 60's styles.

Couch #2 looks like shit.

You do not want a leather couch. I had one when I lived in Michigan and, even there, it was hot enough to not want to use most  of the year.

In AZ...get cloth.
