I get to the FOB MAYBE once every couple of weeks.
Otherwise, I'm out in town. I live not too far from "Blackwater Bridge". Next time I login, I'll post some pics. I have some pretty intense operational photos. Great shots, too from the streets of Fallujah. Not the stuff you see from the convoys of FOBs. Foot patrols all day, missions galore. SAF, RPGS, IDF, grenade attacks,IEDs, etc. Lot's of fun. Power's always out, so I couldn't get the photos off my batery-dead laptop. Oh well... next time. For those of you with whom I've verbally sparred, in the past... You'll get a kick out of this exchange I had with a Shop keeper: Me: "We found these IED detonators in you shop. Did you make them?" Suspect: (through a 'terp) "No, I don't know about them" Me: "Who else works here?" Suspect: "My boss" Me: " Where is he?" Suspect: "I don't know" Me: "One of you is 'Muj'. Who is it, you or your boss?" Suspect: "I DON'T KNOW" Me: " what do you mean? You 'don't know' if you're Muj?" Suspect: "I don't know" Me: "I'll give you a choice, either YOU or you boss is going to Abu Gharaib" Suspect: "I don't know" Me: "wrong answer" Took him. Made him cry like a little girl. |

Damn, that's funny as shit!!!
Do be careful, keep your head down, and tell the men thanks. Stay safe and God be with you and the men. vmax84 |

The standard ARFCOM reply is "GET BOTH!!!" Keep up the good work and stay safe. You know we're all pulling for you! |
|
|
My "men" are all Iraqis.
I will forward your thanks, though it might be a bit confusing for them. |
|
I've heard some good things about today's Iraqi soldiers and police. |

The police are all thugs, who drive around really fast in their chevy Pickups, and fire their AKs in the air. That seems to be their mission, from what I see. The Iraqi Army varies from Bn to Bn. Our guys are good. They look like Marines, when on patrol. They move well, have great dispersion, they cover their sectors, they use hand and arm signals... Until we take fire. Then the go nuts, running around, chasing the sound of the guns. Granted, no one likes to chase the sound of the guns more than me .... It just isn't the best solution. There are no "training areas", so all "training" is done during and after actual enemy contact. Woohoo! It's a living. |

you guys are doing god's work! i say that cuz i believe democracy is what god intended for mankind. i hope your guys will cherish it as much as we do...
man, you must have some intertesting conversations with them! |

Stay safe. Remember....with the Iraqi's....trust then verify.

I trust our Iraqis.
They're all Shias, with a few Kurds. If they wander out in town alone, they'll get beheaded as quickly as I would. We're in the same boat. |

Fighting with Iraqis must be frigging surreal.
Kick ass, Stay Safe, Come Home |

Do you speak the language yet?
Or at least know enough to know what your men are saying? |
|
Stay safe bro.
Thank you for your service. Let us know if you need anything. |

Thanks for sharing that interview story. You and yours keep safe out there in the sandbox.

Thanks for defending our way of life. +1 on a speedy, safe return!
|
|
Instead of "Wrong answer", you should have said, "You want to see something funny?"
Seriously, thanks for serving your country out there on the sharp end. Stay safe. |

I was waiting for the "I had to draw down on him"
Still good work though. I hope the Iraqi forces have improved over that last few years. I guess they will always be a cluster fudge but at least they run TO gunfire instead of AWAY like they used to. You seem to probably be working with the best the Iraqis can offer. I guess buck fever is better than the old french response to gunfire. |
|
Stay safe Cincinnatus, prayers with you and the unit untill all Marines are home safe.

Good to hear from you. Enjoyed your report, more interesting than the BS that the major news organizations put out. This is the real deal, no spin, no additives, no higher intellectual thought; pure unadultered news.

Good to hear from you, Cincinnatus - keep up the good work, and stay safe....

Wave - you're the first one I thought of when I read this. I think Cinci needs to add, "Wanna see something funny?" to his repetoire. Cinci- thanks (as always) for your service. Stay safe, we're praying for you. And don't worry, the Eagles are looking good again this season. |

I shudder to contemplate how these life experiences will influence Cincinnatus's artwork when he returns
Be safe Major! |
