Such as the ones I posted a few weeks ago.

SCORE...Add Two More HK MP5s To The Collection...

You may want to take a walk over to Sturmgewehr. Several dealers are selling them pretty cheap in the $2,700 - $3,100 range.

Apparantly these are all coming from California Department of Corrections. About 750 DOC HK 94s have been recently introduced to the market.

They average about NRA VG condition and are priced right. HK94s normally start around $3,500.

I've got a few for myself and I'm squared away so this is just a heads up.

Do I need to mention these will probably go quick?

ETA: For the benefit of those not familiar with Sturmgewehr.com

Yeah I can remember Colt 9mm Carbines going for $2995 when they were banned. They'd still be that price if the ban didn't end. Since the HK is an IMPORT the ban won't ever end.

So price is the result of a closed market.

As for the barrel, 16" just like the Colt 9mm. For $200 you can SBR it.

If you still don't want one that is your call.

But some folks are paying almost $2,000 for shitty HK 94 KNOCKOFFS.

I'm just giving people a heads up about the real deal for not much more.

And you'll NEVER touch a AUG or 550 for that price.

20" Green AUGs are going for around $3,800, Black 16" for about $4,500.

And SIG 550s?!? Try about $9,000 for a semi.

The funny thing is, I've seen non Cali guns sell for $3100 give or take a few hundred.  If these guns have a fair amount of wear, I don't see how anything close to $3000 is all that good of a deal.  Especially if they all have numbers stenciled into the receiver as I've heard some have.

I paid $2750 for a IF date code HK94 May of 2004. It came with a 5 30 round mags and 1 15 round mag and the box.

It was own by a Ohio police department since 1985, and they traded several HK94s to Pete Athens of PJs Invesments. He traded Steyr USRs for the HK94s.

Any way your DOJ HK94 looks to be in better shape than mine.

Nice work Steyr AUG!

Yeah, these are starting around $2,700 and up to the $3,100 range.

And despite the fact that one will OCCASSIONALLY come across a HK94 for $3,100 they are usually in crap condition for that price. And HK94s normally start around $3,500.

More importantly you can't just decide to "buy" and HK 94 and reliably find one for any price.

I know a guy who ended up paying $4,100 for his because the time he happened to look for one the only ones available were some serious beaters in the $3,500 range and one that was about 98% for $4,100. He looked around for 2 weeks and that was IT and he had the money THEN and he wanted to spend it before something came along and gobbled up his cash.

Bottom line is HK 94s in this condition normally start around $3,500 and these are selling for around $2,700-3,100. So if a person has always wanted a HK 94 this is a good time to buy and these are a good deal.

I already had a couple 94s and some MP5s but this was such a good deal I grabbed a few more.

And I wanted to give everyone else who may have "always wanted one" the heads up.

If you think you can do better, more power to you.

If you find a large lot of mint HK94s in the $3,100 range please let us know.

Got my 94A3 last year from an FFL in NOLA.  It is indeed minty, and cost me $3150.  In hindsight, I am proud to have at least preemptively rescued it from the aftermath of Katrina.

$2400 is a (s)creaming deal.

There goes the sear market again...  I gave up a few months ago when I couldn't find one for less than $10k.

I added the A3 stock myself. Expensive but available.

The 93s don't cost nearly as much as the 94s, but a 93A3 for $2500 is a decent price.

Anybody in the PA area looking for a DOC HK94, there is a dealer at the Valley Forge Show this Sat/Sun with a table full (and a stack behind the table) of them in ranging in price from $1800 - $2000.

The $1800 units have finish wear but the insides looks like new. Ideal for an MP-5 conversion.

You just had to post that, didn't you?  All of a sudden, the current typical $2500 price isn't that appealing.

If I was within driving distance of that show, I would be there at that price.  Anyone have any idea who this dealer is?

The ones in that price range are what we in the business call the bottom feeders. These came out of Cali in all kinds of conditions. It is worth it to upgrade to the ones in the $2500+ range because the ones in the $2000 range are pretty spent.

Steyr... Tell me something.  Do all the guns have the PD # engraved into them?  If so has this been removed?  In my case, I'd have to pay for another refinished as I'd plan on using the gun as a sear host, have it remarked, etc.  If I could get a cheap one, then have it totally overhauled as part of a conversion into a sear host, that'd be ok with me.  Of course, as long as the firearm isn't screwed up.

Some do, some don't.

More importantly the numbers are just scratched on the finish not actually engraved in the metal.

A simply polish and refinish will correct the ones with numbers.

Also if it is gonna be a sear host you would need to refinished after the SBR conversion in any case.

So, is the 93 the same as a 94 but with a larger mag well?  At some later day, could you use this as a host for an auto sear?
