I've been looking closely at this new movie Lord of War because frankly it looks wicked sick, but I see a problem I'll pose the question: what will this movie do for us gun owners? If you're not familiar with the movie read this it is basically about a gun smuggler. If this movie portrays guns as "evil" we may start to see the idea of gun control get more popular. We may see another dopey 60min special on how me need more gun control in America or Opera will have Mothers of shooting victims on her show....it could get messy. Maybe I'm wrong what do you think?

Didn't you hear? The director is very anti-gun ans this movie is propoganda to make guns and gun owners look very bad.

That's what I've heard too. A rather anti-gun movie.

But it's chock full of gun porn.

It does slant towards being anti-gun, but,

to me, it seems that it was more about the arms dealer (Cage) being able to disconnect himself from the resulting horrors of his job, i.e. genocide in 3rd world countries.

At least Cage's character does have a chance to rebut the anti's mantras.  The director seems to put this in more to try and show the 'idiocy' of the pro gun movement.  Essentially the director blames guns for evil and not the despot dictators and Cage rebuts this.

Anyway, it's pretty good, I recommend it

the movie is about an international arms dealer selling ak's and tanks to shit hole 3rd world countries. there's probably anti-american and anti gun culture references in the film but overall the reviews i've read are about the international arms scene not 2a or rkba. i think it's a comedy as well...

It was an AK.

I saw it today, matinee.

It shows Cage as a gun smuggler who does coke and fucks AIDS-infected prostitues in Africa and then come homes to his wife and child and lies about it all.  The point of the movie is that guns are bad, because see what it did to Cage and see how many innocents were killed by the African warlords.

I still liked the movie.

Wonder how many country's statistics he went through before he got to that one?  Just saying that there's other countries you'd look at before N.Z... no offense to any Kiwis here.

It's defineatly a bad thing for gun owners.  People are generally very stupid and get their information from movies and tv.

People who watch this will probably get the impression that because the existance of illegal gun availablity is real,  then that is the reason there is violence and war.

Without ever considering talking to real people or investigating any of the new ideas this movie puts into their heads,  they will accept it as fact.
