I have a really nice G3 from Todd @ Ohio Rapid fire, I like it, no problems, its just that the Socom 16 has caught my fancy. I have a NM SA M1A that I absolutly love.

pros and cons, hive mind?

Yup. I'd trade a nice G3 that takes mags that can be found for $1.25 (in semi bulk)  for a rifle that takes mags that are $25.00 each (at best.)

Okay the non-sarcastic answer...No, you should not.

I think the ORF G3 is a POS, send it to me, I'll give you $200 for it as a favor to another team member.

Springfield quality is questionable as of late.

If you must get a Springfield M1A I'd strongly suggest you buy one made prior to 1990.

I have no idea what they are doing.

There stuff used to be great. Even their optics have taken a QC nosedive. Had a customer who bought one of their Gen 3 Government Mil Dot scopes and the zero walked with every single shot. Springfield fixed it on 4 separate occassions but never got it right.

I've avoided recommending them since that incident.
