So I plan to enlist here pretty soon.  I will go infantry to begin with... probably 2 years active.  After that, I want to see about re-enlisting or changing my MOS to something I can use in the civilian world.  I was thinking air traffic controller for a while, but I am having second thoughts.  I'm wondering what kind of jobs I could get in the Army that would set me up for a fairly well-paying job in the future.  To be honest, I'm not too fond of being a mechanic... but I haven't ruled it out completely yet.  I'm pretty obsessed with helicopters.. and since I am unable to fly for the military, I was thinking of something related to aviation.

Any suggestions?  What kind of a job could I get with an MOS in intelligence?

Also, assume my asvab scores are good enough for just about anything.

Not too sure.  I just can't see myself enjoying it for too long.  But then again, I know next to nothing about it.  Maybe some of you guys with experience can fill me in a bit.  I hear it's about as stressful as a career can get.

DLAB=Defense Language Aptitude Battery. It is the test that the military uses to determine if they think you would be successful in learning a foreign language.

The Army's Defense Language Institute is at the Presidio of Monterey, California. All branches of the military send people there. Basic courses in the harder languages are about a year long. Most of the trainees work in intelligence, with some interrogators and psychological operations specialists as well.

I cant remember the job but it had to do with repairing and maintaining medical equipment. Ultrasounds, MRI and such.

Aviation mechanics always have offers, but many I talk to in the outside world seem unhappy with the trade. If you go any other mechanical route go 62B, Heavy Equipment Mechnaic. It is much more versitle a MOS and will get you better offers. Also lucrative ar 52D (generator mechanic) and 52C (HVAC tech).

But the daddy of all, without going into the medical field directly is 91A, Biomedical Equipment Repairer... you fix and maintain all the specialized equipment found in hospitals. Huge $$$$$. It is only available as a reclass, you cannot enlist right into it. The school is 41 weeks.
