Honestly, what is it?  Or are you set with what you have?

Me?  I'm mostly happy; there are only minor things - a dry set of boots for tomorrow, a monitor that works properly.

What do you want, or have you escaped the pains of desire?

I want complete and utter freedom. Like to live on a deserted island and support myself.

I don't think anyone escapes desire - the more we see and acquire, the more we want.

Double cheeseburger, pickle and onions only. Diet cherry limeade.

And a blowjob, I guess.
Forget the burger and drink.

What are you, a Puritan?

Hmm, let's see, to start:
-Cindy Crawford (locked in circa 1993 or so)
-A 1994 Aston Martin Vantage V8 (best looking car ever made)
-The MOD pattern room as my own private gun collection
-Highland County VA, as my own private estate
-38 Foot Dragonfly trimaran (Quorning Boats of Denmark DK!)
-Immortality

The reality is that I'm happy with what I have, but life sure would suck if your dreams and imagination expired.

That's more than I could hope for right now.....

Drift - I don't think so.  Right now........there's not much I want.  I've given notice at work (working for friend of family, heading for active duty military); I can tell off supervisors at any level with impunity as long as I can back it up; I work with good people, which is terribly important - as I learned all last year; I have money in the bank, I have food in my stomach and pack/lunchbox, I know where my next meal is; I've had a few beers to loosen up from 6 hours construction in torrential rain and three hours cleaning the shop;

I know I ought have hopes, dreams and aspirations.  I ship to Lackland on November 15, 2005.  That's going to open my horizons.

I get like this sometimes.

I want to be able to bring up my daughter in a world that leaves us the hell alone. As I get older I get more and more outraged at the total lack of personal accountability, as well as the incrementalism that has become so damned pervasive in this society.

You headed off to basic??   My son went into the USAF last year. I went to Lackland for his basic graduation. Nice place, although he didn't enjoy it!  He's in NC now...combat comm. Loves the USAF.
One piece of advice:  Get your ass in shape before leaving!  Just because it's the AF and not the Marines, doesn't mean it's easy. It will be worth it, trust in that. Good luck.

A solid gold F/A-22.
A license to kill.
A set of powered armor.
A double-jointed supermodel/chemical engineer wife who has her own pot farm.

You know, just the basics.

Edited the end of the quote a little, but pretty much that. I don't think that's asking too much.

I want the farm I grew up on back.

Since I can't have that,I would be happy to have
a small house on a few quiet acres away
from everyone else.

Just enough to shoot on,have bonfires,keep a
few horses, build a treehouse for my kids.
Simple stuff.
I can't believe you have to be rich today to live
like my poor family did when I was younger.

For you naysayers:  you were right.  Woke up........right before I drove out to work, had an upswing.  Was really happy.  I tipped well.

Today beat the hell out of me.  Casually arrogant boss met me at the shop......didn't have a gun on hand to kill him........his Sig P226 has three rounds of 115 lead round nose in the magazine; the revolver in his desk is unloaded - don't ask how I know.

Was so bent out of shape I had to leave dinner with the family and cool off.....

I still run poorly.  I'm an asshole for breaking my training cycle.  Should have done laps around the house when the treadmill wasn't working.
