A curious mind wants to know.

How well would a bottle of that hooked up to a trip wire and detonator/fuse scare the crap out of a burglar?  For legal reasons you probably won't want to put nails/bb's in there, just a loud boom and the concussion from a foot or two away would probably make the bad guy turn a 180.  (probably wouldn't be hard to find him either, just track the trail of shit)

You're going to have Angelina Jolie showing up at your house protesting your land mines.

Hey, wait a minute ...

<---- Goes to order more Tannerite!

Funny how she protests landmines, but was in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, with more guns and explosives than some small armies own.

I think I heard that a blasting cap would ignite Tannerite.

If the shock wave from a .22 rimfire will do it, any blasting cap will do it.

Since that wont do it, you will have to try again.

I thought it required a high velocity centerfire round to set it off?

ETA:  beat by 4 seconds...

Yes, a blasting cap will set it off but then you'll need a BATF explosives license at that point. In addition, you are talking serious structural damage in a building with one bottle of Tannerite.

Frankly the blasting cap would be enough.

There are trip wire devices that use 12ga blanks whcih would be better suited for "scareing" someone.

ETA, from a foot away, the "victim" would suffer serious limb damage. Not to mention you would be prosecuted for booby trapping.

How about a 12ga blank with a tripwire...  Fill the blank with tannerite,  that would be enough to scare ya.  I was thinking more along the lines of 4-6oz of tannerite.

That'll be plenty loud to scare the intruder and warn the occupants.

Tannerite? Pfft!

Gators, a Moat, guard dogs, closed circuit TV, M1919s at each window, and lotsa tinfoil.

Oh, trapdoors in your house, like in cartoons, where you pull a lever and they burglar drops into your dungeon.
