I originally went to bed around 9 tonite, then got up at 11 because I couldn't sleep. I've been sleeping really shittly lately and I don't know why. I know one thing that is keeping me up is a streetlight a couple of houses down. Every night I plot on how I'm going to take its ass out for bothering me while I'm trying to sleep. Who the fuck needs a streetlight on at 3am anyways? The crackheads? My girlfriend just poked her head out of the bedroom and barked at me for keeping her up because I'm "typing too loud". So now I'm gonna try and go back to sleep. What the hell are you still doing awake?

I slept like total shit last night. I am a night owl in my unemployment, and it makes sleeping tough sometimes.
well, for tonight it's drowning my sorrows in alcohol.
Other nights, the demons of my past come back to haunt me. |
Not that I can't, I just don't.
I work nights, so I just keep the same sleep schedule on my days off. |
Same here. |
Have to take Temazapam nightly to Put Myself Down. Takes up to two hours to work sometimes.
I haven't taken it yet. I forgot! I'll be up forever, and feel like shizzle tomorrow. Just like this morning. |

Damn pain meds are giving me nightmares... Will try to sleep again soon...

+1 Do you find yourself staying up all night every other night? I do. Vulcan94 |

I've always have had problems sleeping, but since I work nights & take night classes so it seems to balance out. My family can't seem to grasp why I keep my sleep schedule on days off. Its too much of a bitch to go to bed at 5am everynight for 3 days, then go to bed at 12am the next. I still have to take something to help me sleep at night, I will sleep, but I will only sleep for about 5 hours maximum. |
Me too. I was one of those kids who would stay up to 3:00am reading or watching tv, even on school nights. Now, I find that I'm most productive from midnight on.....it sucks when I'm home and want to work on something or use a power tool at....say about 2:00am.......So I ended up buying a few old fashioned hand tools, so I can play a little at least. |
I'm a night person.
I work or read until I actually get tired then go to sleep. If you can't sleep you may as well be productive. In my single days I'd actually do shit like clean the house when I couldn't sleep. |
Yeah...me, too. |
Seeing as I'm posting at 3:07 my time, yeah, I'm an insomniac. I typically go to bed between 2 and 4 in the morning, even though I have class at 10 am 3x a week. I'm not working right now, so I don't really have a routine except for school.
Do you have dark curtains in your room? If not you should get some, if you already have them I don't know what to tell you. Alcohol always works for me. I usually just have a glass of wine before bed if I really have to go to sleep. - Jenny |
Well, I'm posting at 4:15 AM local time....
What I end up doing is coming home from work at 5, sometimes hitting the sack at 8 or so "just for a brief nap"....wake up around 11 PM, then really prepare for bed, sleep for a few hours, and then around 3 I'm up and can't get back to sleep...unless I do something. Like browse arfcom and other 'net sites for a while. Then I can get back to sleep just in time to catch my 5:30 alarm! CJ |
I usually don't sleep for more than a few hours at a time. I live on naps.
as with others, I go longer periods without sleep, till I get really exhausted, then make up for it, and then am recharged and ready to go.
Overall I really enjoy nighttime anyhow, it's cooler, darker, I like the moon and me and the dogs have the world to ourselves more. |
During the day, I could fall asleep on barb wire.
Nighttime, however, is the opposite. Umm... yeah, its 4:30 am. - BG |

I go to bed about 1 am, and then have an interrupted sleep until about 7am. I feel slightly tired, but my body?mind? won’t let me sleep. An interesting thing that I have noticed is that if I go to a different time zone, my body or mind adjusts its self to the same sleep schedule in that time zone from the second day. |
I go to bed just fine and get about 4 hours before I just cant fall back asleep...so I get up for a bit (like right now) and go back to bed in an hour or so. Sometimes it works out, often it doesnt!
Over here it's hit and miss.
C-17's, C-130, and random helo's taking off at o-dark-thirty are loud. |
Yeah, I think Pamela Anderson is pretty boring, too. CJ |
It varies. I used to get up in the middle of the night if I couldn't sleep and sort brass. Nowadays if I can't sleep, I surf the net. Other nights I sleep like a log.
I don't have any problem sleeping at night..........
Well, seriously, since my job was cut, my sleep cycle is haywire. Suggestion: a good aerobic workout (to make you physically tired) helps you sleep better, also being very regular on your bedtime, don't eat too latem no caffeine after dinner, and no or very little alcohol. Alcohol and sleep aids help you "sleep" but it's not a restful sleep. Also you might take a self-assessment for depression. |
....
... But I ain't complaining, it reminds me that I'm alive ... Often, when I have a lot of activity at work, in business and at play I find myself sleeping less at night. I don't "lose sleep over it" (no pun intended). ... I've come to realize that when my mind and body are tired enough, I'll sleep. Average 4 to 5 hours weekdays and I'll usually play catch-up on Sunday mornings. Once I get that one 8+ hour night; I'm good for another week |
Comes and goes. A lot of nights, I'll have no problem sleeping. Last night was not one of those nights. Slept for a few hours, and tossed and turn between 2 and 6 this morning. Worked out, had a bite to eat, and not too long from now, I'll be heading back for a nap.
Now that I look at the calendar, we're heading for a full moon this weekend, so that would explain the sleeping problem. I started noticing the pattern several months ago, and it's been consistent since. Good thing it only comes once a month. Good night, good morning, whatever. |
I have always had problems sleeping. My parents always had trouble putting me to sleep as a baby.
Try getting some exercise, even if it's just walking 3- 5 miles a day. |
Odd, I had a dream last night that a (very bad) TEOTWAWKI situation descended upon us, and I regretted not buying enough survival food. I think I told myself in my own dream to go buy some more emergency rations after I wake up....
My thinking exactly! |
Have a sleep study done - you could have other things going on (like apnea) that you are not aware of.
Can't remember when I had a full night's sleep.
Painful shoulders and lower back and an enlarged prostate that causes me to get up and pee 2-3 times a night means I'm lucky if I get four hours without waking up. Getting old sucks. |
I usually stay up till 3-4am sleep then get up at 7:45am to go to work.
Mine too. They couldn't figure out why I struggled so much when they held the pillow over my face..... |
Good point, though wouldn't the Dr. want to eliminate other factors first? Sleep studies are big bucks and not the first option, like losing weight if you're much heavier than you should be. |
The only time in my life when I couldn't sleep was the first semester of med school. I was so anxious I would often have a resting pulse rate in the 120's. Passed the semester and have slept like a baby ever since. Except when I'm forced to stay up on call.
Yeah. Being up until 5am is not uncommon these days. |

YO!
ive been having trouble sleeping for awhile now.....i'im LUCKY to get 3 or 4 hours. |
I can never fall asleep and I am always tired at work, esepecially around 2 or 3 pm.
I also think the depression and sleep probelms (and AR15) go hand in hand.... |
I hae been sleeping crapy for the last week or so. I really really really need a new mattres. Mine is old and the springs are pokey.
Last year I had problems with my tonsils waking me up for a while but I had them taken up. They had swollen so large they would close up my throat and make me grasp for air. Sorta like Sleep apnea.
I’m naturally a night person though. I will stay up late and sleep in. However my job requires me to work from 8-5, so I usually don’t get up later than 9 on the weekends, 10 at the latest. If you’re having trouble with the light outside though, you could put tinfoil in your window and tape it up. No joke. It’ll block out the light. |
It's not the matress, dammit!!! Move some of those magazines you probably keep underneath it..... |
Yeah. All those issues of American Hunter and GUNS. If anybody needs me I'll be in the bathroom with a tube sock. |
