These images were sold to whomever and many are public anyway. What google did was to peice them together and make it easy to find locations. It does no more harm than it did before. People didn't know yuo can get these images before google was handing them out. Geez.

I'm having a blast with Google Earth right now. Thanks for telling me about it, I'd never heard of this site. "I can see my house from here!".

Check out Washington and NYC in 3D.  I'm sure the 9-11 pilots would have loved this tool.  My house show clear as day.  I'd say most of the images are 2-3 years old.

actually the google company slogan is "to not be evil".  So it's probably not because they're assholes, but that they just can't make it work on a Mac.  I'm promising you there's some poor programmer wasting his freetime trying to get it to work.

Dude, if M$ can get that ABORTION called "Microsoft Office" to work on a Mac, then Google (which is comprised of the typical leftist geeks so often stereotyped as the classic Mac user) should be able to figure it out.

Most publically available aerial imagery has minimum 1 meter pixels and is around 6 years old - that's from federal agencies. Local governments at times have true-color imagery with less than 1 foot pixels available online. The local sources are usually at least a couple of years old...I work with this stuff daily.

MS Orfice as written for Mac works better than the Windows counterpart, and it has been that way for 15 years.

Question, how can I take an image off google earth and paste it in paint?  thanks for the help...

Long before google did this there was a site Terraserver.com that had pretty much the same info.  You can accomplish the same thing by renting a small plane and taking photos with your camera.

If right-click, save-as is disabled, just take a screenshot and edit it with paint, PS, etc.

If you want to grab a large image, you can do this several times as you scroll through the image, then arrange them back together, again with Paint, PS, etc.

You may also be able to download a utility that allows you to grab a window that is bigger than your screen. I know there is one, I just can't remember the name of the damned thing right now. Grab-It?

If you're on a PC, simply find a key with "PrtScrn" or something similar. You may have to use it in conjunction with SHIFT or something.

When you hit that function, the computer basically snaps a photo of your current screen and saves it on your hard drive, usually on the desktop. It's a graphic file you can edit. It's a handy little get-around to places that don't allow you to download their pics.
