That's touching.

And on a completely unrelated note, that's an awesome tail flash on the viper.

OK, here's a former groundpounder question: Those are AMRAAMS on the outboard pylons, or at least some type of AAM, right? Why does he need those in that environment? Is it just always done in a combat environment, even though therer is no air threat?

Just curious.

They look like AIM-120s to me too.  And I'd imagine it's better to have them and not need them than vise versa.

Those are AIM-120's...

And as it was explained to me, some A/C actually fly better with the missiles on the wing tips because the A/C was designed to always have them on. Atleast such is the case with F-18's and Sidewinders.

As far as needing them on over there...they're for self defense because some of the neighbors are patrolling their borders.

Did the Dad volunteer to go back after his son was killed?  Or was he already there too?

Either way.  God Bless both of them.

Even behind the shades you can tell how choked up the Dad was...Its just unnatural as hell having to bury your kid...I hope the pilot did his job.

There's something stuck in my eyes too.

A parent is not supposed to outlive his children. My worst nightmare as a Father has become a reality for that man.

I hope the pilot unleashed hell on the intended target. Furthermore, I hope the complete and utter annihilation of the intended target helped make our troops safer.

The F-16 flies better with missiles on the wingtip rails. It's like a having a performance winglet that you can use to shoot at a bad guy.

Oh yeah, I agree with Lightfighter too! The pilot might end up chasing terrorists into Iranian airspace and he can rack up some target practice on Iranian planes to meet his training regimen.
