It is to the (traditional) Japanese... they keep them in cages.
ETA - not sure about VN, China, Thai... if it's annoying and you can catch it, take the little guy outside, and let him live his remaining few weeks in peace. (or become frog food) |

Yes, it's bad luck, their little ghost will rise up and get you, essentially, you're screwed! Especially when the PETA whackjobs get wind of it and protest at your house while dressing up as little murdered crickets!

They love my basement. I've killed a bunch of them. I never hear them chip though. Probably because they know they're being hunted.

I have cave crickets in my house...I terminate them with extreme prejudice on sight...no mercy is shown to them whatsoever. I killed one last night, but his/her mutant partner escaped my wrath.
I hate them. DIE, MOTHERFU****, DIE!!

I caught one of those ugly ass "free range" cave crickets and tried to feed it to my frog - SOB put up a hell of a fight, but froggie finally prevailed!

The reason why they are kept in cages are because the Japanese like the singing of them. Edited to add I am in Japan on a contract, so I asked the people in both the rooms beside me in the dormitory. They said that they have never heard anyone say that killing crickets are bad luck. |

My B-I-L and this old cat where he works are always practical joking each other. One night as he left work my B-I-L let 500 crickets from the feed store loose in the guys office. Classic. |
