Blanco is being set up several days ago for a TV interview, and her press secretary is helping her adjust her mic. They’re having a personal conversation, but the cameraman catches it!! In it, she kinda jokes to her press secretary something like “yeah, well I guess I really need to ask for troops,” and a couple more things she says. A bit later in the segment she gets into a semi-argument with Miles O’Brien, and he’s pointedly asking her exactly WHEN she asked the President for troops. She gets frustrated and says she didn’t even know what day it was the, she was confused, but Miles presses her.

That pretty much fits into the scenario I envisioned from the news coverage. There was never any intent to support people inside the city, rather, the government wanted people to leave the flooded areas. If there was a road in for supplies, there was a way to leave, as well. People would have had to walk a ways, but the supplies were there for them. NOLA officials were just concerned with people who couldn't walk out.

What was unexpected was that so many people were going to intentionally stay behind to loot the city.

I saw that interview Miles Obrien and Blanco. She is a mental basket case. She has got to be the worst chief executive of a state I have ever seen. All she does is cry and pray in the face of adversity.

Louisianans should ashamed for electing this worthless POS.

I don't know about the firing but I heard the Chief from Gretna the other day talking about they closed a brdige emptying into Gretna. He didn't quite say to keep the riff-raff out but the implication was clear..

Everything I've seen from any source said they expected about 20% to stay in any circumstance for a variety of reasons.

If Blanco and Nagin don't also turn in their resignations (as FEMA director Mike Brown did), then there is no friggin justice in this world. Brown may have not been perfect, but those two clowns in Louisiana make Brown look like a genius in comparison. If he had to lose his job over this, then both of those goons in LA should surely go bye bye, as they are at least 10x worse than Brown could ever be.

I loved that piece that aired on Scarborough Country last night. He played a clip of a reporter interviewing Nagin. The reporter asked, "what would you have done different, if you had known then what you do now?" Nagin replied by saying "I would have screamed louder". Then it quickly flashed back to Sacrborough who said....."you would SCREAM louder? Why not instead do your job Mr. Mayor!!!!" Priceless.
