Just did a little surfing around and found the ACLU had ZERO articles or releases on the forcible evictions of citizens from NOLA.
I sent an email to a local chapter."
What is the ACLU's position of the forcible evictions of residents from New Orleans?
These appear to be clear violations of the letter of the 2nd, 4th and 5th Amendments.
As a long time supporter of the ACLU, I find the silence on these issues disturbing.
Thank you.I fibbed a little
For me, this is more proof that the ACLU is nothing more than a communist mouthpiece who believes in doing exactly what is happening in NOLA because that is their plan once they take power.
The ACLU is looking into a range of issues relating to the government's handling of the hurricane disaster and concerns that have arisen over the treatment of evacuees. Please bear in mind that the ACLU office for Louisiana was located in New Orleans and has been inoperable for the past two weeks. Fortunately, staff was able to evacuate safely and is now living with friends and family in a variety of locations. Plans are being made to rebuild the ACLU's presence in the area.
