This was from a guy who has had a gun shop for over 30 years.

I still stay away from 5.56, but have brought 7.62x39, and .45 ACP Wolf from his son many times, without issue in my SKS, AK, and Glock 30.

Unfortunately his son was busy at the fishing counter today, and his father, who actually retired from the business a few years ago, but just hangs out at the store with a group of his retired friends all sitting around in lawn chairs, wouldn't sell it to me. Eventhough I told him I've ordered cases from his son many times. He's not doing his son any favors.

I heard the whole lacquer story, which despite me telling them they've revised their manufacturing, they ignored.

The owner even told me "That gun manufacturer from Maine, who makes the 7.62x39 guns, advises people not to use Wolf as it will void the warrranty".

Troy's contention that the steel cases don't expand to form a seal, getting more carbon in the chamber, sounds very believable.

From my experience with Wolf, cleaning every 4 rounds is not correct, but it does seem dirtier than most other ammo.

Wolf is all I shoot out of my Bushy. Hasn't had one malfunction as of yet.

Hit your next gun show or try AMMOMAN.

Wolf is the standard round for any Sov-block gun and runs like a champ in my dad's Mini-30.

It is a bit dirtier, but that's what Hoppe's #9 is for

I really cant see Wolf causing damage, I wish someone could really prove that to because then I would switch. It seems too many people use it without having thier guns destroyed. As far as getting the rifle dirtier than other brands, the gun needs to be cleaned after every outing anyway so I dont really see a problem with a gun being dirtier than dirty.

I used to be ANTI WOLF ... then I just recently started using it again with the new polymer coating I have had less "dirt" than before and you have to clean your guns anyway... so?

I've had shitty luck with wolf in some guns not with others. My Cav upper hasnt been cleaned in several hundred rounds of wolf, my .45s have dumped about 1K in the last month and havent been cleaned either. They have not had a single malfunction that wasnt related to trying to bump, but that's another story. I have encountered a dead primer or two in the several thousand rounds I've fired.

Every four rounds....Well.....I guess I owe my SKS a few hundred cleanings.

The main issue I have with wolf is inconstancy, bullet weight, propellant, case length, you can find significant variations in any given box of Wolf 7.62x39.

i have seen m16's eats cases of it back to back.

i have ar's that wouldn't extract it after 1 round.

it's pretty much up to your gun. if it function shoot the piss out of it.

That's been my experience as well.

Except the only gun I've seen it freeze up in the chamber was a Ruger M77 .223, first shot. I've seen two or three M16's just eat the stuff. My 3 AR's and the several my friend owns also eat it up. But our AR's all have chrome chambers. And I really wonder if that's what makes the difference.

Of course I've never even heard of an issue with any rifle chambered in 7.62x39. Including my SKS and AK.

I put 500 rounds of Wolf through my Oly Arms M-4gery and it was just fine. It wasn't very easy to clean, however.......

My gun has eaten through about 500 rounds of the stuff, about 100 each time we go shooting. We clean after each session.

Currently the only ammo I have for my EBR is Silver Bear 7.62x39mm. Sealed bullets and primers, steel case.

Isn't this made by the same people who make Wolf?

Wolf is extremely dirty, but for punching holes in paper it works fine. Shoot the good stuff when it matters.

It shoots great in my sp2 but I had to knock them out of a H&R with a cleaning rod.

I shoot Wolf.

I shoot it out of my AR's. I shoot it out of my AK's.

I even shoot it out of a Steyr AUG.

Never any problems. A little dirty because the steel doesn't expand like brass, but it still works.

Now...if I'm willing to put Wolf through my AUG, and trust in it to function (which it sure as hell does)...I think everyone can rest a little easy about how it functions, any blow-up issues, or quality control issues of other sorts.

(Just ask the guys at one of the last MN shoots; I thought dpmnn was going to have a minor heart attack when he saw that I was feeding it Wolf..)
