I know someone who put a no lug threaded Colt Hbar upper on a postban receiver with the comp just screwed on with loctite. It was kinda compliant
 Not me though, no sir.......

this reminds me of a post over on the FALFILES soon after the AWB ended, this knucklehaed over there announced to the entire world, who else besides him didn't follow the law about 922r and 922v during the ban period? he admitted to a felony. needless to say he never read the part about you can still be procecuted if you did that during the ban, someone posted a link that spelled it out from the ATF website........he deleted that thread after a couple of days, after like 30 people told him he was a idiot.........he done did a homer, DOH!
I do know that the shows there was more illegal "pre-ban" then there were legit "pre-bans".........but then I suspect that anybody that went to a gunshow saw that. |

How many were prosecuted?
Not very many. If it was a DIY job that was not later resold, the ATF didn't actively pursue. Now the major manufacturers was where this was aimed. But the basment smith was virtually immune. |

I think the main point is who gives a shit? It isn't illegal anymore, it shouldn't have been illegal in the first place, and it never really mattered. If anyone admits it I have no objections to them.

I was very careful not to violate the AWB while it was on the books - since I am pretty paranoid about breaking laws (intentionally or accidentally). |

I lived in California during the ban, and didn't discover AR's until about 2002. I was approached MANY times to purchase out of state...uh...nevermind.
I always obeyed the law, but tried to exploit every loophole available.

I didn't.
Wasn't worth it to me as I just bought prebans. Most all were foreign made pre '89 weapons though that I knew would hold their value pretty well. A couple of preban AR lowers though that I built up as I wanted. I decided when the ban died though that was the end of it. They can take their unconstituional laws and cram them. Now you may ask, why I didn't say that before? Well, in '94 I had only a couple of shotguns and a .22 rifle. I tried to comply with the law though it pissed me off and I knew it to be a violation of the 2nd. Then in 2001 I came here and AK47.net.  That led me to the realization that I wasn't alone. In any event, my kids are grown, and with age has come wisdom. I realize now how much is at stake and that the socialists don't own this country and its media--thay just think they do. I also want to leave the country a better place, not a worse one, for my kids and grandkids and I am willing to do whatever that takes. |

No no, just curious. A friend and I were talking about this. Just wanted to know what everyone else did. I think even liberals knew that the 94 ban did NOTHING to stop crime. |
