This evening while taking my usual walk I saw a pair of V-22 Osprey's fly over.

They were cooking along at about 3000 ft off the deck in full forward flight mode.  They make a very unusual sound . . . kind of like the worlds biggest box fan.

Since I'm only a couple dozen miles from Byrd airport in Sandston, Va I figure they were landing or taking off from there.

No pics, but a cool experience none the less.

Are they painted black?

Naw, looked drab olive to me

It's the helicopters that are black, remember?

I bet it takes TWICE the tinfoil, and you gotta put it on faster.

If you use heavy duty, remember to put the shiny side out.

Nasal protection is important, too.

The Osprey's were cool as shit, though.

If you suspect you're in their regular flight patterns. . .
Move.

That looks like something out of a science-horror film.

I've got about 30 minutes in the left seat of the V-22 simulator at MCAS New River.

It will do loops and rolls... at least in the simulator!
