I don't know, seems like events are really spiraling out of control. I feel it more now than I did during the 70's and we came close then. Another 4 years of Carter(even as bad as his administration harmed the country, 49.5% of voters still voted for him!).
Certainly early to call at this point but when you look at the erosion of freedoms, increasing acceptance of perversion, destruction of the family, murder of babies, economic collapse looming on the distant horizon and now this....

Hurricane Katrina is going to cost this country far more than any of these dipshit politicians is admitting to at this point. It will all go on the National Debt,  further strangling the economy. The violence which ensued during Katrina and in the aftermath is barbaric, tribal and malignant. And it has now metastasized throughout the country with the scum that the gov't and various  "dogooders" have dumped on the rest of us. Murderers, rapists, child molesters, and on and on it goes. You have notable but racist blacks stirring up shit everywhere they go and no one seems interested in telling us the truth. The media in this country is one of its greatest enemies. Ironic, isn't it? They were supposed to be the watchers, informing the rest of us. Instead it is propaganda, socialist agenda and indoctrination.

The ripples are only now beginning but I have a greater sense of doom for my country than I have ever had and I was born in 1958. Not even the 60's came close to this IMO.

Did one of those Art Bell guest predict that the fall of this nation would be preceded by natural disasters?  Does this mean I won't have to file a 10-40 and if I do go to Washington, D. C., that I'll have to pay for admission into the Smithsonian?  What about the free access to the National Archives or the Library of Congress?

I'm serious  though, this is the way shit starts. I don't see it next week or next month but down the road I see the possibility of events which take us down a road that if not handled properly could lead to revolution in a few years. Beside the Republicans throw away taxpayer money almost as fast as the Dems. the pork involved with the energy bill was just amazing considering the Republcans controlled both houses.

I'm not sure that is the way I see this possibly going down though in the past I probably would have thought so. Probably start with conservative civilians against conservative .gov/mil. Where it goes from there is anyone's guess.

No, as I have seen NONE of them post. Besides,even the founding Fathers acknowledged that it might be neccesary from time to time to keep the Govt from becoming evil and overpowering. I believe they saw it as a natural event depending on the people's ire at the Govt.

People usually will not revolt en masse unless they don't have the bare necesities.  I would have a VERY hard time invisioning any kind of civil war unless things got a heck of a lot worse for a heck of a lot more people than is the case now.  Selective and wide spread political assasinations though.....?

you mean, like in new orleans right now?  If you only knew.  Mass evac can happen in YOUR town bud.  You learned a lot in 24 hours in September of 01.  Yet you and people like you still refuse to believe there are events outside the boundary of your childlike imagination which can change your world.  If you only knew what was just beyond your flame.  You and people like you only believe it when you see it, only react when it is too late, and having not ever imagined it to be possible, failed to prepare for it.  

You and people like you had a hard time envisioning planes used as weapons, what more is out there waiting to surprise you, outside the light of your little fire?  Are those planes the last surprise you will ever have?  No one gets up in the morning and says, "I think I will have a horrible accident today" yet people die every day.  If you only knew, you would have stayed in bed.

Hey Fordguy.  Read the original post then read my reply.  Do you really see a sizeable group of Americans joining together for a popular uprising?  I'll bet a good part of the members here have never even written their elected officials about 2A issues.  
I don't know where in my reply you get that I am some kind of short-visioned fool with my head stuck in the sand.  I take the future very seriously, and prepare accordingly.  I've been to disaster areas a few times in the past.  Emergency response is what I do.

So what's your point?

That you're not going to get 1/3 of the population to arm up against another 1/3 and go to war to see who's going to run the place.



That's the way civil wars end, not the way they start. Unrest often begins will small scale, seemingly innocuous events that gradually build. I could say the same for a lot of wars in general though.

Instead of a civil war, we get to watch society collapse from within like the Romans did.  The barbarians aren't outside the walls, there in here with us already.  They're our neighbors.



Within and without it would seem. I wonder how many americans would actually help our enemies. My feeling is that the number is small but significant.
Also have got to say it is because of how many are within that I would expect Civil War before war perpetrated by foreign govt's and forces.

You are absolutely correct though, that nations are destroyed from within before conquered from without. I guess that is the point of this thread.
You are also correct that the parallels between our nation and Rome are considerable.
