I would assume the Super dome would be torn down. Hell it was built in the 60's. And they will get a new one for free now, so why not.

I heard the same thing on NFL network. Apparently the dome is beyond repair, cheaper to just tear it down.

I think th ewhole city should be burned to the ground, leave the looters inside it..........

seriously, I don't think it should be rebuilt, because if it is where it is, y'all will be paying for it to be rebuilt everytime there is a disaster there, and there will be another disaster eventually...

Nothing like federal $$$.

The rebuilding of NO is going to be the pork to end all pork.

Ditto. Way too cool! Seems to me that the city needs a new stadium, what better way than to have the chumps(aka taxpayers) to pay for a new old, sure beats "a jab in the eye with a sharpe stick" that's for sure.

The Saints have been threatening to leave for years.  Now they have reason.

Don't burn the Quarter or Garden District.  The rest of it, I'll bring the matches and gas.  Can we keep the reporters there though?

Along the same lines I was thinking that all of the busses that they transported the victims in would have to be burned.  It seems that after a week in the conditions they were in, there's no cost effective way they'd ever get that aroma out of the busses.

If I am not mistaken they were planning to demo the Superdome and build something new before the storm.

Just heard them say it was "likely" to be torn down.  So nothing definate.  Typical get the story first before knowing all the facts reporting.

Exactly!  I'm on one of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Committee's ( HLSR helped build the facility at Reliant Park, i.e, the Astrodomain, Reliant Conv. Center and Reliant Stadium, if you've been there you'd know it).  The question came up the year that they were building the Reliant Stadium for the Houston Texans, as to what the fate of the Houston Astrodome would be.  Tear down, re-use, etc.  The end of story answer was it wasn't paid for.  That was in 2000 and back then they said 30 years was still owed on it  I doubt the Superdome is paid for.

Build the next one with spaces easily converted with jail cells in order to maintain order among refugees

Better yet build it below sealevel, that way they can salvage it after the next flood.

Odds are the Saints will never again play in Louisiana.  They've wanted out for years.

Edit:  And as soon as I hit 'Submit' I read an article saying the Saints owner, Tom Benson wants to play in Baton Rouge at LSU.  Fair enough, I still don't think the Saints will ever play in New Orleans again.

Its sort of funny, a week or so ago it was said to be a strong, safe place to send people to ride out a storm.

Now, with a few roof panels missing, the waterproof membrane peeled off.....it needs to be condemned?

Could be the Mayor wants to rid the city of a giant reminder of his total incompetence and criminal neglect of the poor and elderly.

Make a mighty nice cemetary and monument to the stupidity of most of the folks in NO.  Shovel in the corpses, say a blessing, slap a few religous markings on it and seal it up.  On the anniversary, you can view the remains of your loved ones from a nice cool skybox, suck back a 'foty and recall why it's full of bones.

I predicted it would be demolished hours before the first people set foot in there. It it not fit for human habitation, let alone having to pay a fee to get in.
