OK, I have seen many dinner pic and now that I have a new camera, I may want to take one myself.  I am a good cook and want to get some feedback.

What I am failing to comprehend is the meaning behind some of the non-food/gun ( it is AR15 so guns should be in every photo).  What doies the other stuff mean and or stand for and how should I include it im my photo so as not to offend the membership?  I want to do this right I just need some instruction!

There really should be a FAQ on this.

1.  Must have some sort of meal

2.  Must have some sort of beverage (bonus points for adult beverages)

3.  Must include a tape measurer, but any instrument that gauges length is ok.

4.  Must include some sort of double-edged fighting knife.  Pocket or utility knives if you must.

5.  Must have a handgun.  Some people include different kinds of guns, sometimes 4 or more.  That's fine.

6.  pics of breakfast have to include a stapler.

The rules are unwritten, and change often. The best way to do this, is to read ALOT of dinner pic posts. This is easier if your a team member <hint hint>

All posts start off with a "10". Points are then deducted from there. Judging is ruthless, assinine, subjective, anal, and anything but fair - unless you have a scantily clad babe in your pic. Having your wife/gf posing half naked in the pic is guaranteed to improve your score.

I repeat, having your wife/gf posting half naked will forgive all other dinner pic transgrssions.

For the record, I believe that having your wife/gf in the pic will help your score.

Before I leave, I'd just like to point out that scantily clad women have been received well in the past.

Word around the forums is, the new dinner pic standard involves hot women.

Don't forget the extra mags!

And the beverage must be opened and ready for consumption.

I think LordTrader was the one who started dinner pics. If I recall correctly, he posted a pic of his dinner at a time when the site was limited to the discussion of firearms. Ed Sr pointed out that his post was off topic, so LT took the pic again with a gun.

It just sort of grew from there.

Am I right? Anyone else care to chime in?

1. the meal
2. reading material
3. knife
4. place setting with napkin and silverware
5. beverage, must be open and ready for consumption and preferably in a glass(bonus points for booze)
6. firearm
7. spare mag, loaded
8. tape measure, or other measuring device
9. stapler
10. bonus points for BOTD

people around here very much prefer a meal with a large chunk of meat in it, with some sort of potato side dish.  The preference on beverages varies greatly, as long as it's alcoholic you're probably ok.

Recovering alcoholics, or those who choose not to drink for whatever reason are given a free pass, if they note this in their post. Sodas are ok in this case, but NO diet! If it's a beer, it had better not be a light beer.

I was under the impression that the stapler in breakfast pics replaced the tape measure.

I can't find it in the archive. I've been looking for a few minutes.

ETA: Was he the thread author, I wonder? Searching is pretty difficult, as I can't search on thread contents, only the subject or member names.

The rest is all BS.

Yup. it got to the point you had to have a wide angle lens just to do a dinner pic.
