Iraq is getting more money than New Orleans. What should our priorities be as a nation? What is more important to you? Spreading freedom and wealth to other countries or spreading freedom and wealth to our own people?
The New Orleans disaster puts our misguided and irresponsible foreign policies in perspective. We are the richest nation on earth and we can afford to nation build all these other foreign countries but we can't afford to build up our own cities and states. We can appropriate hundreds of dollars in pork barrel projects for the President's "Highway Bill" but slash budgets in necessary improvements to our poorest states infrastructure. Where do your priorities lie? With helping foreign countries or helping our own people? |
So Iraqi's should have more opportunities and funding for civil projects to break out of poverty than American citizens? |
Grow up… What do you suggest cut an run in Iraq. More bullshit. |
money for iraq was approved before the hurricanes.but now since the hurricane, money should be approved for the gulf states before any more money is approved for rebuilding iraq.
but not taking any money from the soliders. |
It isn't easy to break out of poverty, but the individual has to do it for himself. He can get plenty of help just by asking around, but nobody will do it for him. There are advantages to a civilized society. However, a disadvantage is that there are so many programs out there to help and people have no idea that they exist. They can be found with a couple of searches on google...but you have to have the intelligence to wonder what kind of aid there is, instead of just assuming there is none. |

Do you honestly belive that it's the president adds in the "hundreds of dollars" of pork? As the presidnet doesn't have a line-item veto he has to up or down the whole bill, and vetoing a bill because it has too much crap in it means that it's back to the drawing board and risking a government shutdown. And please explain to me how the pumps that keep a below sea level city from washing away is a federal matter. Local, yes. State, probably. Federal, ? |

We should focus on strengthening our own economy, and help strengthen those of our (real) allies by trade. Gives more incentive for other nations of be freindly towards us (otherwise they get cut off from trade).
The only places we should focus/invest resources is where we'll be getting something back later on; for example, Russia, is in desperate need of a more democratic government (right now, it's the same corrupt communists under a new flag), and one that's freindly towards the US, we'd eventually receive good benefits from trading with them. That, and such an alliance would be unstoppable; especially if we ever have to go hot with China. |
Do you think the US government should throw money at our people to make them wealthy. People have many opportunities in this country and don't need to be coddled like children. If this disaster had struck any of the impoverished nations around the world, you wouldn't see people on the news complain about cold MREs and only being given "water, water, water". Did you figure out how to drive a bus yet? |
He is to ignorant to know the White House does not produce bills and to ignorant to know the President opposed the current Highway bill because of pork. |
I've seen it reported on US news that $500 Million the US Army Corp of Engineers asked for to strengthen the Levees was redirected to the war in Iraq which is costing the US $3,000 Million a month…… True? False?
We should be able to take care of our own.
We should NOT cut and run in South West Asia Yes Americans have more opportunity then others. Also take a look at schools and their problems, first in budget cuts. Cost of living goes up wages remain stagnate. Ask this ,,why did the US give China a most favored trade statis? Yes our foreign policies suck We do need a commited policy, foreign and domestic, regardless of who's in office. No I'm not a DUer or a liberal I would have the US emulate the Swiss, a rifle REQUIRED in every household. Just a side thought,,only those that served should be alowed to vote ,,earn the right |
False. $120 million or there around was requested $71 million was allocated… to be spent in the next several years. The levees that failed were NOT scheduled to be upgraded anyway as the Corp of Engineers had deemed the adequate because they were newer. |
You cannot be from Alabama...Milsurp, is this you? |
Not until there's an ex-soldier and a reservist in every household. Bottom line is that the overwhelming majority of people would be like a fish out of water if asked to handle an M16A2, and I don't want to start handing them out to every 'able bodied' adult because of that. That only works in countries with an active draft. |
It'd be nice if the DU trolls would stay around and try to back up their BS instead of doing these drive-bys.
But I guess when all you see at home is opposing views being squashed as soon as they're posted, then that's what you expect when you step outside of your own screwed up little world. |
I think we should kill all able bodied people who stayed behind to cleanse the gene pool and then re-build everything but NO.
Just kidding!!!! |
Spoken like a true welfare recipient. |
We can do both. Open eyes and minds reveal that we are in fact rebuilding both simultaneously. I don't see much point in choosing between one or the other.
As a nation, it's clear that we care more about NOLA than we do about the plight of Iraqis. You point to federal dollars spent as proof we don't, and I point to an unprecedented amount of PRIVATE dollars spent that we DO. The Nation is us - you and me - not the federal government. It's abundantly clear that you, me and everyone else cares more about the needs of our own people, despite federal spending to the contrary. |
Those rifles along with a box of ammo (and a couple of grenades IIRC), are issued to you when you join up for compulsory military training at age 18. Every able bodied male in Switzerland between the age of 18 and 55 is in the military reserve. Non commisioned ranks get a SIG551, Officers get issued a SIG pistol ANdy |
Squashed eh? More like blown off by selfish jackasses who only care about themselves. How come all these members with thousands of posts are backing me up? AMERICA FIRST? OR AMERICA LAST? Which one are you? I'M AMERICA FIRST. |

You're obviously ME FIRST, AMERICA LAST. |
You're in the AMERICA LAST CROWD TOO. |

Rid our nation of all domestic enemies, i.e. liberals. |

Will someone please ban this idiot Smegma or whatever the hell his name is? It's obvious he is here to cause trouble. So someone please show this jackass to the door. Thank you.
Yes a major metropolitan area was seriously affected by a natural disaster, and we as a nation should help those in need, but if you think we should shitcan our efforts in Iraq and concentrate solely on New Orleans, you, sir, are one dumb fuck.
How exactly has invading Iraq addressed the AQ problem other than making it worst and breeding a whole new generation of hate towards America in Iraq? There was no terrorism in Iraq before we invaded. There was no link between AQ and Iraq in regards to 9/11. Where's Osama? |
Wah Wah, poor wittle baby. Wah Wah, put a cork in your cry hole you big baby. |

Playing the race card? A bigots last resort....... |

Naw...see if you weren't a troll, you'd know I am ARFCOM's resident Mexican A ridiculous thread deserves some ridiculous humor. Enjoy! |
Bull fucking shit. Go tell that to the Kurds and see what they tell you.
There's plenty of links. Al-Zarqawi was in Iraq long before the invasion. That was his area of operations. So if there was no Al-Qaida connection, WTF was he doing there? There's plenty of evidence if you have the brains or will to look, rather than spouting off whatever Michael moore tells you.
I dunno. Why don't you tell us? And tell us something else.....if the answer isn't Iraq or Afghanistan, would you and your kind (liberals) be willing to do what's necessary to go get him, such as moving into another country to get him? Or would you start crying immediately like the little bitches you are? I found it funny all you liberals were crying when we went into Iraq saying that Iran was a far more serious threat and that it should be Iran we deal with. It's hilarious now how so many of you have back tracked on that statement now that a strike against Iran may be a possibility in the near future. |
There was terrorism in Iraq prior to the invasion. Saddam liked to massacre the lesser specie. It was well documented. If there was no link between AQ and Iraq, how can our presence in Iraq make it worse? Admittedly, it appears that the Administration wasn't real prepared to secure the peace. However, no matter what you do and how efficiently you do it, overcoming pockets of resistance takes a long time. I believe that the Nazis had holdouts at least into 1947 and we were finding old Japanese men who didn't know the war was over into the '80s and '90s. ETA - when somebody asks you what the solution is, you should try to come up with one, instead of only objections to the current situation. |
Fuck you, you little slimeball socialist shitstain. And you can take that cork and plug your ass with it. |

BTW, I'm not liberal, I'm libertarian. |
