Instead of using the orginal gaming cd which has to be in the cd-rom tray to start the game, I would like to make another copy to keep the orginal from getting scratched.

It has the copyright protection on it, is there decrypter software for CD's that will allow me to make a back-up copy of a gaming cd.

Thanks.

Yup, Alcohol 120% always worked for me.

just use a no cd patch
then you don't even have to bother making a copy of the disc

Yep this is the ticket, most of them even work with online games.

what option do you use under alcohol? Looks like there are several ways.

I tried the copy wizard and after about 20 minutes it was only at 1%

ok i got to 100% and was able to burn a new one, but my pc wouldn't read it. I got hung up on the bf2 splash screen. Do I use the cd copy wizard?

ok i got to 100% and was able to burn a back up cd. The pc locked up on the BF2 splash screen and wouldn't let the game begin. I used the cd copy wizard in alcohol, is that the best way?

Theres a way you can do it so you dont even need the cd to play.

Using Alcohol 120% , I make .cue (CD image) THEN I use Daemon Tools to emulate copy protection and run the "CD" from a virtual drive, thus you dont NEED a physical CD to play. However you do need the hard drive space to store the images.
