(year and a half old to be precise - no stabil or the like - had it sittin in the shanty for the heater but didn't use it last season...
any good? should I sell it? should I put it in a red gas container where someone might "borrow" it?

it should be fine. it won't degrade. if it looks like there is water in it from condensation, you can drain it off - water will settle to the bottom. i've used some that was 5-6 years old before with no problems.

Send it to the Red Cross. They may need it. If you put it in bottles and supply rag fuses it may be perfect for crowd control on their latest mission.

I did something similar to one of my son's friends. Someone keep taking gas out of my gas can. So I filled the gas can with water and waited to catch the culprit  Needless to say this particular friend wasn't welcome at my house anymore
