My son is taking a welding class and has decided to build a weight bench press. Needing some dimensions so I can draw him up some plans.

Height of bench you lay on?

Minimum and maximum height to make adjustable uprights?

Outside width of uprights so that bar will clear?

Or plans available on a web site. I Googled it with no luck.

Thanks in advance

Thanks, but they only show maximum overall height, width and length, which varies from design to design. I need more detailed info for best ergonomics so one is in best position.

height of the bench you lay on off the ground:  21.5 inches to top of padding

distance between the bar supports:  39.5 inches

height of bar off the ground:  42 inches

That should work for most people.  if you're shorter than about 5'8", I might reduce that last dimension to 40 inches or so.
