www.officer.com/article/article.jsp?siteSection=1&id=25769The following information is intended for active duty law enforcement officers only. This bulletin comes from Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, and is published here with the permission of the Grand Lodge of the F.O.P.
The Sheriff of St. Charles Parish Louisiana, the home parish of Patrick Yoes, has made arrangements for out of town agencies that would like to assist in the hurricane-stricken Region in and around New Orleans.
Officers who would like to assist must meet the following criteria:
Officers must have agency approval from their home agency.
Officers must have all necessary law enforcement equipment including a police vehicle.
Must be self contained for basic needs such as water and food. The Sheriff's Office will have a shelter for sleeping but it will be very basic and will not have air conditioning. There may be some power from generators later, but there is none at this time.
St. Charles Parish is just west of Jefferson Parish and is adjacent to New Orleans.
Officers will need to bypass New Orleans and enter St. Charles Parish via Interstate 55. Officers should report to Destrehan High School in St.Charles Parish.
There is limited phone service and the number we have for St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office is
985-783-5050 If you need additional information please email me at
[email protected] and I will get the information to you. Please also send me an email if you have officers who plan to go to Louisiana.
This is an F.O.P. sponsored relief effort and DC Lodge 1 will be sending their mobile kitchen. The Capitol Police has agreed to send a detachment of officers in the next few days.
