Everyone is focusing on New Orleans, but isn't the total area of destruction like 50 miles wide by 300 miles tall, with N.O. near the bottom?

That makes getting help down to N.O. alot harder, doesn't it?

Your way off. Tornado's were touched off as far as Georgia and South Carolina.

I would say at least 280,000 square miles, probably more.

We had a tornado from the storm here in VA a couple nights ago.

You first have to consider the damage that was done if Florida on Friday and there was flooding as far as New York

Katrina stirred up tornados in PENNSYLVANIA too.

Yea I didn't think about the damage from Friday.
I think we can all agree that the areas declared "disaster areas" would be the real scope of the hurricane's damage.
If we considered flooding in NY, the damage area would be the entire US, east of the Mississippi.
