He went on a racist shooting rampage ontop a Howard Johnson's in downtown New Orleans in Janurary 1973. His aim was to kill whitey. Armed with a .44 Ruger deerslayer he killed 4 cops and several citizens. Finally took a Marine helicopter and hundreds of shooters on nearby rooftops armed with .375's, .458's, .308 sniper rifles, and M1 carbines to bring him down after he made one last dash across the roof. He was shot hundreds of times and thousands of rounds were expended during the siege.

I remember seeing it live on TV. Remembered that they shot the stock of his rifle in two...
