The USAF is or just about to start flying stuff into Keesler. The Naval Air Station in NO is underwater, I know for a fact that AFRC's tenant unit there is underwater, we have to rebuild their mail servers here as all the computer equipment is toast.

Not an effective delivery method in this situation air drop just are not that accurate. 2nd with the situation in NO until there is some protection of the people from the gangs that are running rampant the supplies are not likely not going to get to those that need them but be sucked up by the gangs. In a situation like this you will have to set up secure distribution areas. Some ain’t going to like it but if a situation ever warranted martial law this one now does. The President needs to declare a national emergency federalize the LA and MS National Guard, use force and get this situation under control quick. It is clear the local and state authorities are in over their heads. That city needs to emptied fast or there are going to be epidemics that could kill thousands. |

So, right now people are breaking into the supplies that are on hand, and someone thinks dropping them in an unsecured area is a good idea?
Look at what's going on. If you just drop them in to where anybody can get them, people will haul them off with no regard to anyone else. Truck them in and let the authorities hand them out. If the people down there would exercise a little discipline and stop playing the victim, things would go better. |

Drop of pallet of food/water into a crowd of 1,000's of hungry, thristy, desperate people. They will tear their neighbor limbs off if it means survival for their family. You need armed soldiers to hand it out, only way to keep them from rioting... EPOCH |

Actually, it has been just over 48 hours since the Jeez people, I know we live in a microwave/ get your pizza in 30 minutes or less society, but when you have a disaster that strikes hundreds of square miles shit doesn't get fixed at the drop of a hat. Patience. Don't let the 24hour news media spin your expectations. |

That's a pretty good idea. Air drop some supplies into a looter controlled area. Then some of the tougher ones can play Warlord and hoarde the food and kill more people.

I heard FEMA say that Louis Armstrong is just getting to the point of being able to conduct ops, Gulfport/Biloxi will be online tomorrow, and Keesler is operational. |

If the NG is federalized they then become title 10 forces and are subject to Posse Comitatus (sp?). That was the big 9-11 dilemma - NY wanted NG for LE work, but was having trouble footing the bill. If the troops were federalized, USG pays the bills, but forces now subject to Title X. |

And the stuff that does not hit people is going to end up in water, on roofs, in power lines and poles. End result more people hurt and no real help... air drops would not be helpful. |

We (AFRC) have birds at Gulfport and Keesler at the moment. I haven't heard anything new from 926 FW/10 AF in NO on the status of NAS New Orleans. |

Your typical Nwew Orleans resident is unlikely to starve any time soon. Isnt it one of the fattest citys in america?
As for water, anyone with half a brain and 4 days warning could have stored enough water to ride this out for weeks at least, if not months. |
