Okay...here goes Gents....Last night I saw/heard that due to N.O. Looters running rampant with AK's that the mean greens were called in to disarm the AK weilding privateers...and I can fully understand and appreciate the need to disarm AK weilding looters but...here's the catch...

Looters are Looters but...Orders To Disarm Joe Civilian are just that...now here's the theoretical scene...imagine...

You've just been subjected to a natural disaster...there's looters and mayhem everywhere...and now you're standing guard on the porch or rooftop of your own home, family and supplies with your top end SHTF rifle/carbine/arm...then along comes a truckload of M4 Tot'in National Guardsmen and acting on orders to "Disarm The People"....demanding that you now surrender your favorite SHTF arm to them...knowing that they are not there to offer any help or assistance except to collect your last means of defense and protection then drive away with it....leaving you effectively disarmed.

So here's my question...

Whatchagonnado?......hand it over?....beg to keep it?....or?...

Just salute'em then casually step inside and flip the safety to the fire position?

And I only ask cause I was left wondering just what the he11 I would do in such a situation after seeing and hearing the directives handed out last night in N.O.

You openly display a rifle to make a point to the looters. If The Man confiscates your rifle it likely means that some sort of order is being restored. Go get another rifle from the safe and be more discrete about displaying it. Repeat as necessary.

Dont display your weapons.  Jealous neighbors will report you and those confiscating weapons will try to take it even if your simply defending your home.  Use what you dont want confiscated.  Thats why I keep two of everything just in case.

If it really comes down to it say "Fvck no!" and take up a defensive position.  Hopefully they'll leave you alone if you're only defending your home cause they have bigger fish to fry (looters, etc..)

I don't have any guns.  I lost them all in a tragic boating accident.

A good soldier never gives up is weapon.  That weapon in this situation is just as important as your water supply, you will be in a bad way without either.  

We made the mistake of disarming honest folk in the former Yugoslavia, thanks to a certain now retired General / former Democratic presidential nominee and his clueless cronies.

We had a different administration in Iraq and Afghanistan, and have not made the same mistake.

Do you honestly believe that we would allow Iraqis to keep AK's but would confiscate legally owned weapons from honest folks here at home?  Any such order would come from the governor, not the Federal govt - I can't imagine the LA governor is THAT stupid.  Keep taking your Prozac until the black helicopters turn into butterflies.  

Don't act like a threat to Joe Public and you will not be perceived as one.  From some of the stuff I have read here on this board, though - there are many threats to Joe Public that need to be eliminated - some of them post here.  That is where the discretion of the individual Joe on patrol comes in.

Here in PA, the only folk who are allowed to display arms in public once a disaster has been declared are CCW permit holders. And they have to have the permit displayed, much like a hunting license. This doesn't mean that some ignorant cop or NG troop might not try to disarm you anyways. In theory, if you stay on your property, you're okay. But again, cops and NG troops aren't known for knowing the laws they supposed to be enforcing in such a situation. They get told "disarm anyone you see", etc, I imagine.

If I'm on my own property, I'll say "I'm not threatening anyone who isn't trying to steal from me", and "I'll go inside now. Don't try to enter my house uninvited". If they enter, they get every loaded mag I've got, bullets first. If they go on their merry way, no problem.

My neighbors would shit themselves if they knew what kind of hardware I have here. Most of them aren't even "hunters", so they probably don't have much. But seeing scary black guns ought to give any of them who are thinking of running wild serious pause.

AND I guarentee you and your family will be alot safer if there's a guard outside waiting for you to surrender.  I'd rather be arrested after it's over and my family is safe than comply and leave them defenseless.

News flash...

The National Guard will not be crusing residential neighborhoods looking for guns.
They have way more important business than that...

This hurricane is a REAL emergency- not a fantasy scenereo conjured up to impose gun control on the nation.

And "shoot the National Guardsman" posts ARE the same as "shoot the cops" posts and will get you banned.

That's where I draw the line. If they insist on disarming me in the midst of a disaster, I will use whatever force necessary to keep my means of defending myself. I am sure they are all good guys doing a tough job, but that isn't my concern, it's theirs.
