A gentleman(25-30 years old) at work claims to have been a SEAL Sniper using semi-auto 50's, and today boasted that he could hit a light (12" approx. diam.) on the casino roof next door to our job-site.
Now I'm no expert by any means, but @ MAX it was 300 Yrds. probably closer to mid 200's.
If someone had been trained by an elite Spec. Ops. unit as a sniper... would one such person "brag" to be able to hit a target at that minimal range? I also never heard of any semi-.50's adopted by the military until the Barrett.
Please help educate me or help me put to rest this BS story.
Thanks
Update: Today I heard that he is claiming to have received not 1, not2, but 5
Purple hearts.... Found that he was a ET or EM (Electrician - Navy).... Then he told my buddy that he and his fellow snipers would play a game - "Whichever one got the head of the intended target to pop off higher, or fly further from the body, Wins." ... and "even though the movies portray remorse by soldiers that kill women and children in the line of fire... I know I never cared when I was blowin' one of them away, well maybe for a second and then it was on to the next one"
Please tell me that there is a way to find this sort of info (Purple Heart recipients, SEAL roster, etc.)
Thanks
