A gentleman(25-30 years old) at work claims to have been a SEAL Sniper using semi-auto 50's, and today boasted that he could hit a light (12" approx. diam.) on the casino roof next door to our job-site.
Now I'm no expert by any means, but @ MAX it was 300 Yrds. probably closer to mid 200's.
If someone had been trained by an elite Spec. Ops. unit as a sniper... would one such person "brag" to be able to hit a target at that minimal range? I also never heard of any semi-.50's adopted by the military until the Barrett.
Please help educate me or help me put to rest this BS story.
Thanks

Update: Today I heard that he is claiming to have received not 1, not2, but 5
Purple hearts.... Found that he was a ET or EM (Electrician - Navy).... Then he told my buddy that he and his fellow snipers would play a game - "Whichever one got the head of the intended target to pop off higher, or fly further from the body, Wins." ... and "even though the movies portray remorse by soldiers that kill women and children in the line of fire... I know I never cared when I was blowin' one of them away, well maybe for a second and then it was on to the next one"

Please tell me that there is a way to find this sort of info (Purple Heart recipients, SEAL roster, etc.)

Thanks

Well, we pretty much took a poser's head for a trophy over in the team forum (XXXXXXX started the thread about a coworker saying he was a sniper in Panama, POW, etc and it turned out he was a felon).

Anyone up for a round 2?

He's so manifestly full of shit that you should already have realized that and pushed him to the margins of your work socialization.   No need to 'disprove' anything.  Why waste the time?

Tell him you contacted some Seals in the area and they want to go buy him drinks and you are invited to go too.

See him wiggle and worm out ot that should be fun enough. After a few days of him refusing, tell him they want to meet him so bad they are gonna pick him up from work one day and take him out for a beer. Follow him out and see how nervous he acts.

Oh, there is. They don't take kindly to posers either.

AND I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LINK. Damn!

The bullshit about heads "popping off higher" or "flying further" pretty much seals (ha ha - little pun there) his case as one of total crap.  Heads might do that in video games, but not in real life.

There's a webpage for "outing" fake SEALs that's run by the real guys.  I believe some of those nice gentlemen might email him, or even pay him a visit.  I'm sure someone here has the link.

I believe the Seabees did their magic tweaking on a mounted 50 BMG on hill 55 in vietnam for Carlos Hathcock so he could snipe the crap out of those commies.

Check out this thread to see what happens to posers who piss off AR15.com team members

Whatever you do, don't ignore him, or move on to other interests socially.

It MUST be taken care of.  You MUST prove him wrong.  Everything is at stake... your integrity, the country, hurricane relief, and the very future of the TENET/BREMER 2008 campaign.

Ask him what was the number of his BUD/S class.
NO ONE EVER, EVER forgets that, and the number is not "classified".

I personal like the idea of telling him that you found a couple of REAL SEAL's who want to meet a shipmate and talk over old times.

Watch him squirm.

Initial search shows that a Brandon W Mullen appears to have been an E-4 in the US Navy and comes from NV.

People who make up bullshit stories like this are usually neglected, attention-starved retards with mental instability. Just kick his ass and be done with it. He was probably "promised" by a recruiter to be a part of the SEALs, but ended up doing 4 years of swapping carrier decks.

I saw how everyone encouraged HS1 on his thread. That was great. I'm going to try a couple of these in the next couple days.  For what it's worth this guy is also a union apprentice.

Holy crap jkstexas2001 that was quick.
