Apparently a bunch of Shi'ite's were making a yearly pilgrimage to some shrine in Baghdad. The whole procession was crossing the bridge over the river when somebody yelled out "SUICIDE BOMBER!"

In the panick to escape, approximately 600 people were killed, some trampled, most falling over the bridge into the river and drowning. Another estimated 350 were severely injured and needed medical attention. Some of those people have already died.

There was no suicide bomber, incidentally.

I guess this is a classic example of why you never yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater.

what sucks is, al qaeda couldn't have caused more casualties if they tried. Wonder if they're on the lookout for a "homicide shouter" now
