Or do they only have the lake levees to worry about.

Or is it just a matter of time before the mississipi levees give out?

Sorry to ask here but the news aint giving good info.

If the other side of the Mississippi levees is flooded, its not good.  The levees need to be dry, a water logged levee is not going to last long if "Old Man River" starts a rising.

I'd say 95% of the water dumped by Katrina went into the Mississippi River basin.  Every drop of it that doesn't get soaked into the ground is going to be coming right back through New Orleans over the next couple of weeks.

Right now the Mississippi River is at one of its all time lows.....which may help  but it will not take much rain to start it back on the rise

No leaks on the mississippi side, which is a good thing. The straightjacket on the mississippi in the highly populated areas is really really strong, too strong actually, which is the reason NO has lost all it's protective land surrounding land.

If they do break, we'll all know fast. A slow leak frome a lake is one thing, but having the mississippi river rerouted through a city is something completely different. The stuff that is already flooded and ruined will just be swept away by the river
