Connersville, Indiana.
Indiana! This is not NYC or LA! They speculated it might hit $3 today. Is it going to $4 today??? I have heard it is not as bad as the 70's, if adjusted for inflation. What would 70's prices be adjusted for inflation? I'm guessing you know what I'm talking about. |
Simply ridiculous. |
only went up a nickle here. Up to $2.75
But I will be looking on my way home. |

Dang, I've got a full tank but I can still get it at $2.64 down the street. I'm wishing I had a storage tank to fill at that price.
We've got a couple of stations here that shot up to 3.25 for regular, but they are either price-gouging, or their suppliers are really putting the hurt on them. The norm seems to be about 2.75.

I know it suck. I just started a thread about it here.

$80-$90/pbl is the 1979 rate, we are getting close. |
Adjusted for inflation the record price would be 3.52/9 per gallon.

started the swing from 2.45 to 2.61 yesterday (random stations were still at 2.49 this morning) will keep a lookout on the commute home
Thanks for the answer. It seems like we are getting pretty close to those levels. |
My station just went to 2.899. Other stores in the chain are reporting near riot conditions. I will shoot a mother fucker tonight when I get to work If I feel like my life is in danger.

Tomorrow's most-duped ARFCOM thread: "HAD TO DRAW DOWN ON A GUY FOR GAS."
Did you just post your premeditation on an internet website? That should weigh heavily in you favor if you DO have to defend yourself. |
It went up .20 here yesterday, to 2.87.
I'm afraid to see how high it will be when I get home today. |
Someone from SC yesterday posted a big increase there. I forgot to check my BP barometer this am coming in to work. Yesterday it was 2.499. HOWEVER, an off brand I passed was 2.599 and they are usually 5-10 cpg LESS than BP.
That's not premeditation. |

Filled up yesterday morning for $2.59. 5 hours later the wife drove by and it was $2.99. This morning I drove by and it was $3.19. $.60 increase in less than 24 hours. Saw one place it had 87 for $3.39 and people were lining up for it.
Noon news had a story about how owners are now starting to see alot more drive offs than they had in the past. |
Went to get a hair cut at 10AM it was 2.99 for Regular got out after 25 minutes its now 3.19 for regular :( the most expensive is now 3.65 I think.

A friend of mine on his lunchbreak just drove past the BJ's here (Warehouse Club with the cheapest gas in town). Gas was at 2.69, and there were 40 cars waiting in line. They're going to be out of gas before 5:00 unless they have major re-supplies coming in.
This is going to HURT. |

Or you could come to the Cars & Bikes Forum thread here:

Is Canada's gas price lower? I don't think a 50% tax rate to cover their health care is a fair trade off! |
Truckstops in TN,IN,NC,GA are running out of diesel. There is a 50 gal limit on diesel in IN. All 4 major pipelines coming from LA are closed, due to no power.

My brother in law owns a gas station.
Retail prices are usually set by the parent company (Shell, in this case). He only has a few cents (2 or 3) to play with. They do check the retail prices thru credit card transactions. In fact, it really hurts him as a business owner. Credit cards charge a percentage fee to the retailer per transaction. Gas prices skyrocket, he makes the same 3-5 cents per gallon, but his credit card fees go up dramatically, too. So, he loses profit. big time. I was working there on 9/11. I was the one who had to walk outside and announce that we had run out of gas. I felt kind of like Jimmy Stewart in Wonderful life, trying to give people a basic lesson in economics. It was hopeless, though. They were just mad. Remember, they guy working behind the counter just punches a time clock. Getting angry and yelling at him accomplishs nothing, except making you look bad. |

Any excuse, really. |

Some local stations are out and stations that have fuel are charging $3.00+ up from $2.44 3 days ago… expect much higher.
$2.89 for regular here in BTV.
A station across the street was changing their signs to $3.13. |
I paid $2.58 Monday and filled up all my cars and boats.
I helped my brother-in-law fill up his cars/boats yesterday at $2.60. Today it's $2.70. Tomorrow: Who knows? Q3131A's message to Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, etc, get those rigs back on line! |
I just got home, and gas has gone up another .22 since this morning. The cheap stuff is 3.09 here now.
$2.97 for regular unleaded here in Woodbridge, VA (Northern VA) as of 1pm it went up 40 cents since yesterday
How the hell can that not be construed as gouging? |
