I have always liked this firearm, but don't care for 9mm.  They make them in .40 which is a little more tolerable for me (I prefer .45/10mm/.38super)

Unlike most handguns, I know little about this one....   What is your experience with them?  Reliable?  Durable?  Ideal for Carry?

Only shot a few hundred rounds from mine (.40), but it is really nice so far.  Smooth trigger and a natural pointer.  Fits like a glove in my hand.

Get the SW 99 in .45, its the same gun (frame is still made by Walther, in fact) and its a caliber worth having.  Its my main carry/battle/etc gun and it kicks ass.

I thought those were HKs with "crap" stuck on them to make them look futuristic.

9mm

That's exactly the one I have right now only in .40.  I love em.  I've had 3 in the past and every one of them has been flawless.  It conceals well because it's pretty thin and the grip is smallish.  Easy to decock with the button and I prefer the HK type mag release.  Great gun.  You won't regret buying one

Had mine, OD Green, about 3 years.  Absolutely love it!  No misfires.  My everyday carry gun with 16 round mags.  Very ergonomical and fits my hand like a glove.

What's the trigger pull like?  Is this the one that's got the 8 pound trigger?

I've never fired either one, but a CZ-75B feels more natural in my hand than a Walther P-99.

You'll love it.  It has worked perfectly from day one.  And unlike a glock they are well balanced wither the clip is empty or full.

I have a .40

Have one I got in 1999 3k+ rounds and no problems. Great pistol for carry or fun.

I used to have a SWalther SW99 in .40. Was a very reliable, accurate gun. The plastic on the frame was a little "soft" imho, could get marked up pretty easy (think glove box). I got out of .40 so I sold it, but otherwise for a .40 I think it is a good choice...

I damn sure did.
I bought the 40 then the 9. I REALLY wanted to like that gun.

The 40 was a jamomatic. I think it was because the ramp wasn't polished.

The 9 was flawless for me. But no matter how hard I tried, I could never like the trigger.

The trigger on that pistol is the WORST TRIGGER EVER!!!!!!!!
Put the damn thing in your hand before you buy it. If you like the trigger, well, I don't know what to tell you

But if you have ANY reservations about it. Don't buy it. Unless you are willing to sell it later and lose a few bucks in the process.

Got a P99 in .40S&W (OD/Black)

and one in 9mm (Black/Black).

I like 'em a lot!

I also told myself I'd never buy a gun with OD furniture.  But when I saw a P99 in OD I quickly changed my mind.  It looks damn good in OD.

Edit: Fixed the pics

I have a P99 in 9mm, all black.  2,500 rounds through and the only problem I had once was that the slide didn't lock on the last round.  May have been my thumb in the wrong place.  I really like the gun,  I like the mag release buttons, the decocker and loaded chamber indicators.

I would like to get a light for it and some high cap mags.  Can anyone point me in that direction?

Get a SW99 in .45  I have one and it is a sweet accurate weapon.  And I am only in it $450

I have just about every pistol known to man (I instruct) - Glocks, Sigs, H&K, Walther, Beretta, Springfield, etc.  I carry a Walther day-to-day in 40 S&W.

I think the Walthers are more ergonomic than any of the others and I really like the function, balance and trigger.  It's not the best at function, balance and trigger IMHO, but it's the best at all 3 and the fit tops it off nicely.

The QA trigger is just a bit heavier than a glocks.  Not bad though.
