My local news just said that theu had preliminary information on some type of developing situation at the jail in NO. He said they had footage of the inmates being lined up for evac earlier but they had no further info.
So, is all this stuff that's happening in NO a SHTF situation? Is this what would happen in the rest of the US? And, maybe we should take a look and learn from all this?
I heard that also on the internet live feed from WKRG-tv
A deputy, his wife and 4 children are hostages, and many prisoners have makeshift knives. |
Per my local news: Corrections officers and some of their family members (?!?!?!) taken hostage during a riot at the Orleans Parish Jail... Details slowly coming out.
yes. |
Yep, that's what I heard. I would already be dead because no filthy fucking POS would lay a hand on my family as long as I was breathing and able to move. Say a prayer for them! |
Apparently some prisoners decided to appropriate some things for the duration of the emergency too.

[ARFCOM] It's all for the greater good. [/ARFCOM] |
I don't see this on CNN and FOX... |
Hope the State PoPo can get some snipers there to meat out some .308 adjudication.
disaster or not, this is becoming an embarassment on far too many levels.
Part of me has to wonder if the people in the Tsunami zone acted this way (the looting and the people who are defending the looting). |
What the hell were his family doing in a PRISON? That's not the best place to seek shelter from the storm....
This is a sad statement. |
Is that really how they are trying to contain these savages? |
Wouldn't want to hurt their sensitive little "feelings" now, would we? |
In most situations you should negotiate. With what's going on in NO I say put up the snipers with a shoot when you get a shot policy.
The cops do not need to be dealing with this now. |
Yes, in this situation they should be shot if they can
Who the hell thought that the JAIL would be a safe place for DO's families? |
They were of a different race |

Official: Prisoners Riot, Take Hostages in New Orleans
Aug. 30, 2005 — Inmates at a prison in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans have rioted, attempted to escape and are now holding hostages, a prison commissioner told ABC News affiliate WBRZ in Baton Rouge, La. Orleans Parish Prison Commissioner Oliver Thomas reported the incident to WBRZ. A deputy at Orleans Parish Prison, his wife and their four children have been taken hostage by rioting prisoners after riding out Hurricane Katrina inside the jail building, according to WBRZ. Officials are expected to hold a press conference regarding the riots at 9 p.m. ET. A woman interviewed by WBRZ said her son, a deputy at the prison whose family is among the hostages, told her that many of the prisoners have fashioned homemade weapons. Her son had brought his family there hoping they would be safe during the storm. |
I have no idea about N.O. but in some states some of the CO's and their families live on the prison grounds. |
Is this Jail in East New Orleans?
Cause a warning was just issued that the water in East New Orleans is going to rise 9 feet in the next 12 hours... That could bring this hostage situation to a very swift end... |
Spring the deputy and his family by any means possible.
Send the rioters to U-boat commander's school. |
For their common good, no less. |
That is cold, thoughless and mean spirited. Shows you for who you truely are. |
And another cold hearted, mean spirited excuse for humanity speaks |
And yet another cold soul with no compassion who would trivalize the lives of the innocent in comparison to propery. |
This is a terrible, terrible thing.
...but the CO is a complete fucking moron for taking his family there in the first place. His first obligation is to his family: not a bunch of fucking scum who are locked up because they cannot function in a civilized society. Now, due to his foolish decision to take refuge in the jail instead of leaving the area altogether, his wife and children will likely pay a terrible price in the form of gangrape by scum with AIDS. Nice. |
Pray for them, Pray for every one effected down there...........
The President needs to put the active duty military into NO and Biloxi RFN.
The tinfoilers on arfcom would go absolutely bugfuck if that happened. |
And another poster with no reading and comprehension skills speaks. |
got a mirror? you demean the worth of a mans family by trying to equate Convicted Felons who take a family hostage to LEO's appropriating supplys from a Pharmacy to provide for the public good. You did what you did. You've shown everyone who you are. |
Should have just left them in jail... hand out snorkels and say "good luck fellas". The lock the doors and leave.
And your posts show you for the statist who values cops above all others whom you are. The value of your opinion of me is therefore somewhat tempered. Everything's a big joke until it's your own ox being gored, isn't it? |
Can we add a poll as to what caliber is best to plug rioting prisoners with?
Fixed it for ya. |
