OK, so, the death toll from Hurricane Katrina is currently up to 68, according to CNN a few minutes ago.

I'm not trying to insinuate that these deaths are unimportant - far from it.

However, what I do want to know is, are all elected officials issued a copy of "Fucking Idiot Soundbites for Dummies" upon taking office?

Case in point:

"This is our tsunami," Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway told the Biloxi Sun Herald newspaper, referring to the December 26, 2004, tsunami that killed more than 226,000 people in the Indian Ocean region.

(From www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/08/30/katrina/index.html)

What the hell?!!

You guys need to cut him some slack. Read what he said:

"This is our tsunami,"

Nothing more nothing less. It his part of the world, it's like a tsunami hit. This was one of the greatest natural diasters to hit the US. Whole towns are wipped out.

As far as foreighn aide is concerned, We probably don't need it but dam folks, you could at least pull your wallet out and pretend or better yet how about some kind words.

Has any country commented yet?
