Heard on the radio about 2 guys in my state, who decided to steal some fuel for their car.

They broke into someone's shed and took some jerry cans of fuel, which they poured into their fuel tank.  What they didnt realise, was that it was diesel and their car ran on petrol.

They tried starting the car, but it wouldnt start

Being the smart fellas that they are, they thought it would have to do with the fuel they just put into the car, so they went to the fuel hole and tried to look down it with a cigarette lighter.  

The car promptly exploded.


Unfortunately none of them were hurt.  Both have been charged with theft.

Similar to other "look in fuel tank with lighter" stories, however this has a twist, and also the men in question are criminals, so it feels better.
