So, my neighbor has this tree.....it fills my yard with leaves......
Dr Frige was out there cleaning some of the leaves up....and found a black widow complete with egg sack and babies.

Little while later....numbness, tingling, swollen thumb....he claims no obvious bit mark

Bite???

How to treat?

Part 2

got this:

he venom can cause abdominal pain similar to appendicitis as well as pain to muscles or the soles of the feet.  Other symptoms include alternating salivation and dry-mouth, paralysis of the diaphragm, profuse sweating and swollen eyelids.  Heart and lung failure  may result in death.

Persons younger than 16 and older than 60, especially those with a heart condition, may require a hospital stay.  Healthy people usually recover rapidly in two to five days.

Sorry to hear about the evil spider.

No copper nails?

Saw.  Cut it down.

Strip off a ring of bark near the base.

Pour salt water around the base.  This will slowly kill it.

Talk to the neighbor.

Not sure what level of subtlety you're looking for.

Saw.  Cut it down.we actually had a party once...cut the thing straight up our property line...it lived and flourished....

Strip off a ring of bark near the base.the entire trunk of the tree is inside her fence

Pour salt water around the base.  This will slowly kill it.now that is doable....massive amount of salt?

Talk to the neighbor.we have.  She wont cut it down....we request trimming and it takes her 6 + months to do so, always with some excuse.....first one this time was that it provides wonderful shade FOR us, 2nd excuse was she wanted to wait til it cooled down, current excuse is she says there are things living in it and she doenst want to ruin their home

Not sure what level of subtlety you're looking for.

Sorry to hear about the big guy, but get him checked out ASAP.  It's the time that you don't is when it's the time that you need to goto the ER.

I called them....they said what they treat is the secondary symptoms, that the ones in our area arent terribly dangerous unless you are old, young or in poor healthy....
He took some benadryl, used some baking soda paste for the stinging and cleaned it off.
They said to watch for the secondary symptoms...(stomach pains, weakness) and then to keep to wound clean to prevent infection of the wound...she did say ulcerating is normal

thanks

if you salt the tree the grass will also die around the tree, then they will know it was poisoned.

You have to stand and yell mean things at the tree.
This will kill the spirit of the tree and cause it to die.

Copper sulfate crystals. Find a large root going onto property, dig part of it up chop a section out of it, fill it with copper sulfate crystals, wet, cover with saran wrap, put dirt and grass neatly back over it, itll die, might take a while but it will. You can get the crystals to kill mold/lichens on your shingles. I've never done it, HONEST..................
