Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Why don't they open up both sides of the highway?

Every year I sit and watch cars getting out from NO or Florida when a hurricane is coming and they are sitting there bumper to bumper. Why don't they open the other side and then it would go 2x faster?

Since 4:00pm Sat, Contraflow has been active in LA. Working fine.

They must be showing old video then on Fox. In fact I haven't seen a lot of video at all.
