im partial to Belleville desert 390s.
'The Bates USMC boots are almost identical, but the USMC boots have vents for drainage on the side.
I have both,  and just got the USMC boots last week, and havent really put them through the paces yet.

Bellevilles aren't bad at all. Light, breathable and waterproof, and I got em for free . Like them so much I'm thinking of buying a spare pair before the Army starts issuing the ugly brown boots and no longer sells them at the PX.

What's your mission?

Two steppin with the ladies?
Tracking Big Foot in the Alabama woods?
Drivin a tractor?
Hiking the appalachian trail?
Looking like an ubber tactical poser?

Not specific enough to answer.

I wear my boots everywhere.  Hunting, crossing rivers, cutting grass, going to school, and church.  There purpose for my new boots is for the obove mentioned.
I have had "S&W" boots from Brazil, Magnum and now Rocky boots from China.  I hate them all.  They hardly lasted a year before problems set in. The best pair I ever had was by Altima.  The only reason I haven't bought any more is I heard they are now made in China or at least some of them and that I cann't try them on before I buy them.

Corcorans for daily wear, and Magnum Storm for sloppy weather.

Danners don't fit me very well.

Military boots...

I hate the Belleville ICBs. Too hot and won't drain water. On a long hike they pool up with sweat and you get blisters from hell.

The new USMC boots are better, but for some reason the sole is angled forward. Feels really weird. I don't like them much either.

Give me plain old USGI jungle boots any day (not the korean ones, real ones).

For civilian boots, I have some steel toe Chippewa engineer boots that I've worn almost every day for the past 6 years. I love them.

Dont buy Danner! They are comfortable and all, but when you wear them daily in a tough enviroment they do not hold up at all. I went threw two pairs of Super Rain Forests in six months. First pair went south at 3 months, I was pissed and complained. After a lot of hassle they sent me a new pair of boots, but sadly the new pair only lasted me another 3 months.

I'll never own another Danner boot.

For a computer guy, you are tough on boots.

I wear Blunstone Boots.  They are made in Austrailia, since  1870.

With proper care they stay water proof and last about 2 years.....if you wear them daily.

DANNERS all the way!  Tough boot.  They are pricey, but for the quality, they are the best bang for the buck.  Made in USA.

these are VERY comfortable, fit like a dream, have great traction (unlike the altama's shitty treading), are very warm, and are relatively cheap too!

Be advised there are 2 kinds of Danner boots - the real Danner "stitchdown" type of boot which can be resoled (an example would be Danner Acadia boots) and usually costs around $200 or more, and cheaper Danners which are similar to HiTec type boots. Which type did you have? I have never heard anybody badmouth Danner before, so I'm thinking you're referring to the cheaper ones, no?

ETA
Just googled your boot and saw that they are the more expensive type. What kind of work are you doing to wreck them - they look like tough boots. Dayum.

I like em and i think they are great although you do make a point they will not drain water and it takes forever to dry if they get wet.  They stay dry unless you submerge the boot and water comes in thru the top when that happens you are fucked cause the water doesn't escape

I never had a problem with them at benning but fort lewis fucked me up damn it rains alot there
