it goes into a limbo account. but the payor can rescind it and send it to the correct address. The best way to avoid this is to send invoices from now on.

I had a guy send a payment to my old (defunct) email addy.  I figured out the problem and sent him an email.  He was able to cancel the payment and re-send it.  Worked out fine and didn't seem to be too much of a hassle.
